Debating Society: Treasurer

Hi everyone!! Having been Secretary for the past year, I believe that I have the necessary experience and knowledge to be your next treasurer and here's a couple reasons why!!

Throughout the year, I've learnt the importance of large, fun and profitable competitions as our main revenue source. As treasurer, I would ensure competitions are run cost-efficiently so we have more money to spend on training and extravagant socials. Foundational to running tournaments, is our relationship with the student union which I would seek to strengthen as a key priority of the role. 

Further, my deep, ravenous and perfervid passion for spreadsheets will help the society keep accurate records of all financial incoming and outgoings. This will help in making sure funds are properly allocated and payments happen efficiently. While budgets and revenues projections may be boring to you - there is nothing that quite gets my geese gaggling in quite the same way.

Additionally, I'd encourage the growth of ticketed public debates with external speakers, sponsors or other societies, as a way to increase revenue.

Ultimately, the main reason you should vote for me is not this terrible list of ideas but because I would care for the role. I am deeply committed to our society and recognise how important this role is. In the next year I'm sure the society will grow and change in innumerable ways and as your treasurer I hope to facilitate that change and make the society work well for everyone.
