Dance Society: Social Secretary

Other than performing and competing, one of my favorite parts of DanceSoc has been the socials. When I first joined, I quickly felt welcomed and met so many people, building lots of close friendships. Socials played a huge role in that, allowing everyone to have fun and create long-lasting memories. I’d love to be the person creating these experiences for next year’s members, so they’d feel as welcome as I did.

Having been involved in committee duties as a Freshers Rep, I’ll step into this role well-prepared as I’ve gained valuable experience in communication, teamwork and event-planning. Co-producing a show involved handling key logistics and working with committee members. These skills will translate well to the role, where I’ll need to coordinate with venues, society members, and manage multiple responsibilities. Being on the Socials Prod Team gave me insight into how events are planned. Since Freshers Week, I’ve attended every social (literally lol), allowing me to see what works, what could be improved, and how to make events fun and inclusive for all. I’d like to think I’m attentive, friendly and approachable, which will help create a welcoming environment!

I love the current post-show socials tradition, and would like to introduce more drinking + non-drinking socials outside of this (eg. sip&paint, themed pub crawl, Just Dance night). I want to build on what already makes DanceSoc great, making sure every social is well-planned and enjoyable for all <3

From Odissi performances on international stages to hosting themed parties and get-togethers, I love bringing people together through dance, music, and a good time! Whether you're a seasoned dancer or just looking for a fun way to unwind, I want to make the Dance Society the ultimate space for connection, creativity, and community.

As a Biochemistry Student Rep, I’ve worked to create a more engaging student experience, and as President of my high school’s Art Council, I organized successful events, fundraisers, and socials. I know how to plan exciting events, keep everyone in the loop, and make sure no one feels left out.

If elected, I’ll bring:
💃 More themed dance socials – Think 80s disco and anything else you can dream of!
🎭 Collaborations with other societies – Imagine a dance x jazz night or a fusion choreography battle!
🥂 Fun, well-organized meetups – From casual coffee catch-ups to big nights out, there’ll be something for everyone!
