Hebe Yang

Hi everyone! I’m Hebe, and I’m running to be your Liaison Officer. This is my second time applying because I truly believe this role is for me. Over the past year, I’ve explored different dance styles, met incredible teachers, and connected with so many of you—experiences that made me even more eager to take on this role. I am aware of the difficulties within this role, nonetheless, it makes me eager for the challenge.

What excites me most is working with teachers and fellow society members from different styles and backgrounds while helping society members discover new opportunities. I’m not the flashiest dancer, but I love learning and connecting with people. Coming from a background of Chinese folk dance, I would also be interested in exploring different kinds of folk dance across different cultures. If there’s a style or workshop you want, I’ll do my best to make it happen.

I know this job is admin-heavy, and I’m ready for it. I currently manage three online internships (15 hours/week each), attend lectures, submit essays, and still find time for dance around 20 hours a week. Next year, with fewer internships, I’ll have even more time to focus on academics, dance, and this role.

I’m approachable, highly organized, and budget-conscious—I’ll keep workshops running smoothly, allocate payments fairly, and be active in chats to support you.

Let’s make next year amazing together! Vote Hebe for Liaison Officer!

Kai Ling Ang

Since joining this year, I have found a warm and welcoming community in Dance Society, which has become an integral part of my UCL life. By running for Liaison Officer, I hope to recreate this experience for other members to help them feel like a part of this family.

I strongly believe that classes are a crucial part of Dance Society, both as a main entry point for newcomers into dance and a space for seasoned dancers to hone their skills. As a regular attendee of the weekly classes, the support from friends I have made through class is what makes me feel safe to make mistakes in my learning. I hope to continue this culture of supportiveness, especially for new dancers who are forming their first impressions of the dance community through these classes.

I also believe that the teacher-student relationship can make or break the class experience. As Liaison Officer, I hope to streamline communication of feedback between both parties to maximise learning for students while providing an ideal teaching environment for instructors. Additionally, I hope to utilise workshop opportunities to allow dancers to explore niche styles less accessible outside of UCL.

The people, space and opportunities that Dance Society has provided me have left a great impact on me both as a dancer and a person. By running for this role, I hope to give back to the society what it has given me in my short time here, and be part of the team at the forefront of shaping this society for members current and new.
