I believe communication is the heartbeat of our community—it's how we share our passion, stay connected, and welcome new members into our vibrant world. I'm eager to bring a fresh approach to our Instagram account. Partnering with the Publicity and Design Officer, I'll ensure our posts aren't just informative but truly engaging. Crafting captions that capture the essence of our events, highlighting behind-the-scenes moments, and promptly responding to DMs will make our social media a lively hub where everyone feels included. During events and shows, I'll be on the front lines capturing the energy through Instagram stories. I have started an online brand and advertise via Instagram so it would be a great way to apply those skills. I'll infuse the weekly newsletter with creativity, making it a must-read that keeps everyone in the loop about upcoming events, and member spotlights. Emails are often the first point of contact for many, and I understand the importance of timely, professional responses. I have ideas to amplify our reach - like launching a blog section on our website featuring dance tips, member interviews, and guest posts from alumni. Balancing this role with academic commitments won't be easy, but organization is my strong suit. I'm ready to dedicate the time and energy needed to make sure our society's communications are seamless and inspiring. Let's make our Dance Society not just a group you join, but a community you can't wait to engage with every day.

Sophia Nanthakumar

Dance has always been a huge part of my life, and since joining UCL, the Dance Society has been the highlight of my time here. I’ve loved every moment—whether it’s traveling and competing with the competition team, performing in Triple Bill and Freshers’ Show, but most of all, meeting so many incredible people who share the same passion. That’s why I’d love the opportunity to contribute as your next Communications Officer!

I want to make sure our social media stays active, fun, and representative of all the amazing things happening in Dance Society. I loved running Instagram takeovers and behind-the-scenes content on competition and show days at my old dance school, and I’d love the opportunity to bring that energy here at UCL. From competition day vlogs to exclusive backstage moments at shows and rehearsals, I’ll keep everyone in the loop and excited to get involved.

I also want to make it easier for new members to feel welcome and get their questions answered — because I know I had plenty myself! Through polls, Q&As, and interactive content, I’ll make sure our platforms stay engaging and help strengthen our community.

Finally, I’d love to introduce a Dance Society TikTok, featuring everything from class highlights to challenges and viral trends, giving us even more ways to showcase the incredible talent within our society.

I’m excited about the chance to help Dance Society grow, stay connected, and continue celebrating everything that makes it so special.

Elise Kirkizh

Being the Communications Officer for one of UCL's largest Arts societies would be an enriching experience. Having been part of the dance society for the past two consecutive years, I am very well familiar with its operations throughout the year and how all the events are organised and managed. As a Senior Content Creator for UCL and a marketing company owner, I have the necessary skillset for managing a large-scale Instagram account, taking on the responsibility of keeping the lines of communication open internally and externally. I am very patient and will be more than happy to answer the same queries - as long as everyone has a clear picture of what we offer as a society, I am happy ;)

Scheduling is a vital part of my everyday life making me a punctual individual ready to attend weekly committee meetings, class duty and doing the most to help out with society shows. As a management student, I am able to navigate very well in a team setting, adjusting when need be in order to reach a mutually beneficial compromise.

My experience as Social Media and Marketing manager for Acai Berry also demonstrates my ability to tackle high volumes of incoming DMs making sure that each is answered in a clear and structured manner.

I am equally excited to be part of the TD production team, discovering new skills and meeting new society members.

Thank you in advance for considering me for the role.

Karl Tallinn

A little about me: I’m Karl. I’m a first year Computer Science BSc student. I started dancing at the start of the academic year, when I joined this society. My favorite styles are breaking, hip hop and house (even though I can’t 😭😭😭).

Since I am running for communications officer, I’ll keep this short and simple.

I love helping people.

I have fallen in love with dance and the dance society.

I love it when new people try out the dance society and end up loving it just like me.

However, I know first hand how intimidating and confusing it can be to try something new for the first time.

I also understand how important it is for communication with society members to be clear and simple.

I believe I would be a great Communications Officer because I am the type of person to chase after answers whenever I’m confused. So I will leverage that to make sure that I get the info to the society members.

Also, if anyone has mesaged me directly before, they can most likely vouch for my ULTRA FAST reply times 🏎️. (Unless they messaged my while I was sleeping)

I hope to see you next year in the committee 🤗🤗🤗!
