Nur Mohiuddin

I believe I would make a great captain for UCL’s softball cricket team because of my leadership experience, coaching background, and ability to create a fun, positive team environment.

As captain of my school’s indoor cricket team, I developed strong decision-making skills under pressure, learning how to strategise effectively whilst ensuring every player felt comfortable and was playing to their strengths. Additionally, my experience volunteering as a cricket coach throughout sixth form helped me build on my communication skills, making sure everyone felt included and, most importantly, had fun. Coaching also taught me patience, adaptability, and how to bring out the best in individuals - skills I would apply as captain to help everyone improve and enjoy the game.

More than anything, I believe cricket is about teamwork, support, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. I strongly believe the most enjoyable matches are always the ones filled with energy, encouragement, and celebration as even small wins can make a big difference in performance. In my experience, these are also often the games that end in triumph! It’s important to me that every player looks forward to matches and training sessions and my goal is to make UCL softball cricket not just a team, but a community where players feel valued and excited to play.
