One of my favourite elements of women’s cricket are the women themselves. Cricket trainings would not be as enjoyable without the strong sense of community, which is why building connection is so important.

As much as I enjoy our sports night socials, I recognise that not everyone drinks and that environment may not feel most accommodating. As social secretary, I would aim to implement a mix of other social events, as well as sports night, so no one feels pressure to drink.

In addition to organising fun socials to help members get to know each other, I’d also like to arrange some joint socials with other sports societies so we can meet other team UCL members. A larger group can also encourage fun themes, making the socials even more entertaining.

In summary, I believe that I would make a great social secretary due to my outgoing personality and natural friendliness, and I hope to create an environment where both new and existing members feel welcome and supported within the club.

Hi guys, I would absolutely love to be given the opportunity to be your social secretary next year!! The club has made me feel so welcome during my first year, and I would love to be able to return the favour. As a first year who moved away from home, I feel that I understand the importance of fun activities as a breather away from uni work and a way to make new friends outside of training.

Whilst I do enjoy going to the pub, if I am given this opportunity I will also strive to make sure that there are a range of socials, including non-alcoholic ones, to make sure that everyone feels included because uni is not all about drinking. For example, this could be in the form of cafe socials before or after training, or picnics in the park when the weather is nice. I'd like to think of myself as a creative person and I have some fun ideas that I think would make great socials, one of which being real life monopoly (vote for me to find out more!!)

I love the women's cricket community and I'd love even more if I were given the opportunity to help nurture a warm environment where everyone feels welcome and can have fun!!

I am running for Social Secretary because I want to continue a larger and more vibrant social scene that our club deserves. This year, we have not had the chance to run regular weekly socials and I know how important they are in making our team feel more connected, welcoming and fun and I want to change that.

I have experience in event planning, having been a RAG week organiser at secondary where I coordinated successful engaging events. I have enjoyed the sports night, christmas dinner and sixes social which had been organised this year. If elected, I will make sure we continue with this and have a packed social calendar with something for everyone, such as nights out, themed events, team dinners as well as day trips. I also want to strengthen our ties with more UCL sports teams, such as Men’s and RUMS cricket, but also other societies, planning joint sports night socials and swaps to give us the chance to meet new people and expand our community.

My goal is to create an inclusive, exciting and memorable social scene where everyone feels welcome, whether they are a new or returning member. I know as Social Secretary I will be able to fulfil these aspirations over the next year.
