Election post

Hi,
Having served as both Outreach Officer and Vice President of the Classics Society over the past two years, I would love to bring my experience into next year as President.
As a Citizens Advice Adviser, I help people navigate challenges like homelessness, benefit appeals, and debt (which, thanks to our current Treasurer, we don’t have!). These experiences have strengthened my organisation, communication, and leadership skills, all of which I’m confident I can bring to the role to effectively lead the society.
Beyond this, my work as a Caseworker for the Trans Legal Clinic—where I coordinate with firms like Dentons to secure funding for essential legal support—has prepared me well for applying for grants through the SU (and, if necessary, persistently chasing them down to make sure everything is in order…).
I’ve also taken on several roles within UCL, including Transition Mentor and Academic Rep, so I’m no stranger to coordinating with the faculty. As President, I would make the most of these connections to organise department-funded trips, like this year’s Oedipus theatre visit.
For events, I’d ensure weekly socials including, of course, pub socials, but I’d also love to introduce hands-on workshops—think ancient jewellery-making, pottery sessions, and a Roman-inspired food night.
Finally, I love a well-structured form and hate unfinished tasks, so you can count on me to handle everything quickly and efficiently.
Thanks for reading, and I’d love your support! :)
