Simone Liang

Hello everyone! I am Simone Liang, a first-year student studying history, politics and economics, with a deep passion for traditional Chinese art and culture. I am excited to nominate myself for the role of Welfare Officer in the UCL Chinese Traditional Painting and Calligraphy Society.

Since joining the society, I have been truly inspired by its welcoming and artistic environment. Engaging with calligraphy and traditional painting has not only allowed me to connect with Chinese heritage but has also provided a space for relaxation, creativity, and self-expression. I want to contribute to this warm and inclusive atmosphere by ensuring that all members feel supported and encouraged in their artistic journey.

As a Welfare Officer, I aim to:

  1. Create a supportive and inclusive environment by organizing social gatherings where members can share their experiences, discuss their artwork, and learn from one another.
  2. Promote well-being through art by introducing mindfulness-based calligraphy sessions and stress-relief painting workshops, helping members use art as a tool for relaxation and mental well-being.
  3. Encourage cultural exchange by collaborating with other societies to host cross-cultural events that celebrate different artistic traditions, fostering a greater appreciation for Chinese art within the UCL community.

If you share my vision of fostering a supportive and creative community, I would be honored to have your vote. Let’s continue to grow this society together!
