I am standing for Treasurer of the UCL Chess Society because I genuinely enjoy chess and want to take a more active role in the club. Representing the second team this year has been a great experience, and I would like to contribute beyond just playing. My academic background makes me well-suited for the role—I have taken Accounting for Business, which has given me a solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and strategic allocation of funds. I also have a strong interest in business and finance, and this role would allow me to apply those skills in a practical setting. Managing the society’s finances effectively is important for organising events, funding teams, and ensuring the club continues to run smoothly. I would focus on making sure resources are used efficiently, whether that’s securing better equipment, helping fund tournaments, or making events more accessible. Above all, I want to help the society grow and ensure it runs as effectively as possible for all members.

I used to be chess club president and was involved in organising funding event for chess club. I have strong time sense so will make sure financial requirements are reached before deadlines. Although I have no talent in calculating chess, but I believed that I can calculate finance quite well.

With my analytical mindset and attention to detail, I aim to maintain transparent financial management, secure funding, and allocate resources efficiently to support the growth of our society. My goal is to make chess more accessible to all members while ensuring financial sustainability.
I believe my experience in budgeting and problem-solving, coupled with my enthusiasm for chess, makes me well-suited to take on this role and contribute to the society’s success.
