Election post
Hey guys - long time, no see. You’ll be sad to hear that I defrosted from the Chicago -20 polar vortex and like the flakes of cheese stuck in the grater, I won’t go away.
I joined CG in September 2022 and was a regular attendee of investigations, zine, and satire over the next two years. I've been online editor and investigations editor.
Aside from writing articles, I ran investigations meetings, created the ‘Women’s Wrongs’ website, designed the 2023 committee intro posts, wrote 10,000 WORDS of nominations for the artsUCL and SPANC awards, was runner-up ‘Best Student Journalist’ in London (2024), and survived sitting outside IOE bar every Monday in January - a truly remarkable achievement against all the odds.
I like to think I have the dedication and experience to be EIC (if Nick can survive a year without being taxidermied into the next Jeremy Bentham by the SU, then I can).
Ideas:
- Podcast interviews (e.g. of the sabbs)
- I love the new tabloid layout of the issues. But I like to think I have a pretty artistic eye, so I’d keep the tabloid style whilst integrating some of the creative touches from the 2022/23 issues
- Collab with cool publications at other unis (not Kings) for satire
- Creating a balance between breaking news and investigations
- I’ll also revamp the merch
