Cheerleading Club: Sponsorships & Volunteering Secretary

Hi I’m Talia! I’ve grown to love this society deeply, and I’m eager to contribute to its success by bringing my energy, dedication, and skills to this role.

Sponsors play a vital role in helping our club run smoothly without any financial worries, which is why I understand the importance of building strong relationships with them. I’m confident in my ability to clearly communicate our club’s achievements, values and potential to companies, persuading them to support us. I’ll also ensure that our sponsors understand the impact of their contributions through social media shoutouts, event promotions or personalised updates, encouraging them to support us more in future years.

Additionally, I’m passionate about organising volunteering opportunities that not only give back to the community but also showcase the positive impact our society can have. My main idea is to reintroduce our club’s volunteering work throughout Term 2. This would involve teaching at secondary school(s) and preparing the kids to perform a small showcase for their parents at the end of the term. I think it will be fun and fulfilling to share our passion for cheer with younger kids and hopefully inspire them to continue cheering! With my experiences in volunteering - student-led project “forthebettersg”, teaching English to children in Myanmar, leading a project with the Red Cross at an Asylum Shelter - I’m well equipped to organise meaningful initiatives.

This past year with Lightning has been unforgettable, from the comps to the socials — it's been an absolute highlight. So, I want to give back by strengthening our society through meaningful volunteering and valuable sponsorships. 

As captain of my school’s sports team and head of multiple societies, I have developed strong organisation and communication skills. I’ve worked on charity initiatives and volunteered at a local school, an experience I found truly rewarding. I’d love to bring that spirit by reviving our cheerleading volunteering initiative with UCL Academy, inspiring younger students while promoting our sport. Giving back is important to me so by working closely with the SU, I’ll provide fun and accessible opportunities throughout the year for all.

Sponsorship is crucial for Lightning’s rapid growth. My goal is to secure long-term partnerships that enhance financial sustainability. Working closely with our treasurer, I aim to create branding opportunities through strategic outreach, boosting visibility and demonstrating the value of supporting us to potential sponsors. My aim is to secure sponsorships in the summer to ensure Lightning is set for success ahead of the new academic year.

Hi everyone!

I’m Lily, a second-year History student and a proud cheerleader on team Spark! As a committed base, I bring creativity, strong communication, and huge enthusiasm for cheerleading.

I’m running for Sponsorships & Volunteering Secretary because I’m passionate about giving back and have the experience to make a real impact. From playing music in retirement homes to fundraising for mental health awareness through bake sales, I’ve seen firsthand how small actions create meaningful change. With my background in social media marketing and commercial law, I have the skills to persuasively secure sponsorships, build strong partnerships, and organise successful fundraisers that will benefit both our club and the causes we support.

If elected, I’ll bring exciting opportunities such as a 3K charity run in Hyde Park, cheering at the London Marathon for animal shelters, and the Thames Moonlight 10K Walk to fundraise for a charity of our choice. I want to help UCL Lightning give back, secure sponsorships, and make a real difference—all while having fun!

Hi, I’m Laura, and I’m running for Sponsorship and Volunteering Officer!

Here are 3 reasons to vote for me:

1. My Commitment to Cheerleading

   My first year with cheer has been an absolute blast! I started of totally hopeless (I dropped my flyer at the taster!), but now I’m a little better. Now, I’m eager to give back to the team and the wider community. I plan on promoting cheerleading in schools, charities and local companies to encourage more people to get involved in the sport I’ve fallen in love with!

2. Strong Communication Skills

   As an NHS administrator, I learnt invaluable lessons on how to communicate in inclusive, productive ways. I’m confident I can use these skills to excel in this role, whether it’s drafting sponsorship proposals or promotional materials. 

3. Ability to Handle Projects

   I would be the ideal fit for this role thanks to my strong organizational skills, allowing me to effectively navigate the challenges of securing sponsorships and volunteering opportunities. I have experience event planning and I’ll be able to coordinate volunteer schedules and manage the logistics of fundraising events. I’m detail oriented, love to collaborate, and have big ambitions for what this role could be!

Hey everyone! I am Beth, and I would love to be your Sponsorship and Volunteering Secretary this coming year! Joining cheer was probably the best decision I have made here at UCL. I truly love this sport and the new friendships I've made along the way <3. I am running for this role because I want to give back to the amazing cheer community by planning exciting volunteering and fundraising events, and to get UCL Lightning some sponsorships next year! 

I am really passionate about supporting causes and have done many similar leadership roles. My favorite charities I've worked with include Animals Asia, Music Children's Foundation, Women Helping Women, and more! I've supported an array of causes, such as animal cruelty, women's rights, supporting impoverished families, refugees, and much more. I am also studying Politics and International Relations, furthering my knowledge and skills for helping those in need!

I am confident that my experiences and passion provide me with the right skills to fulfill this role for you! I have many exciting plans for potential sponsorships, volunteering, and fundraising events for next year. I hope to increase participation in such events through karaoke nights, trivia nights, the classic bake sale, and more.
