I am standing for Social Sec because I am passionate about fostering a strong, inclusive, and fun community within our team. Socials, especially Wednesdays, are a great way to get to know people within Lightning and other societies. I have made many friends through Lightning socials, and I would love to be a part of planning social events to strengthen team bonds. I would also love to plan socials beyond Wednesday night and to encourage family socials and non-alcoholic socials as I feel like that would be a really fun way to meet people within different teams and allow people who do not feel comfortable in a club setting to enjoy themselves. I am very organised, and I would love to plan events like the Cheermas and the Cheer tour. I also want to create an environment where friendships flourish and every member feels valued. If elected, I will ensure our socials are well-organised, memorable, and reflective of the amazing spirit of lightning.
Hi everyone! I’m Alexia and I’ll make it my job to make this cheerleading season the most fun and memorable yet. Cheerleading is a team sport, and any team needs cooperation and trust. In order to achieve that, we need to build our connections with each other, not only on the mat, but also outside the mat. I can help you with the latter. On top of the weekly sports night socials, this season I want to focus more on cheerleading-only socials. This will make us more united as a club and create stronger bonds with our teammates.
The last Cheermas ball was incredible, but with more and more members joing each year our community is rapidly growing. That’s why this year’s ball needs to be bigger, and this includes not only a bigger venue, but also a more diverse activity plan.
Probably the only thing that I’m more excited for than Cheermas is the tour! A week of just having fun with fellow cheerleaders, without the stress of competitions or exams. My goal is to make this tour as inclusive as possible. On one hand, I want to pick a location with a vibrant nightlife, for people that enjoy going to clubs and dancing all night. On the other hand, I will also include plenty of alcohol-free activities during the daytime, for people for which clubbing is not really their scene, including visiting lots of different places.
I have so many ideas of how we can make the most of this season, and if you vote for me you will be guaranteed the most fun cheerleading season you’ve ever had! 💜⚡️

I’m Alyssia, I’m one of your current social secs, and would love to do it all again next year :)
I think I have proved this year how much I love a night out and shown my commitment to attending the socials, probably a bit too much :))) I love seeing you all dressed up each week and I have many more themes ready that we can do next year. I think we can see why Wednesday is my favourite day of the week!!
Going foward I would love to focus more on relaxed and chilled socials, particularly lunch and coffee trips and more crafty activities. I would also speak to team captains more as well to organise team socials to build that sense of community within our club!
I have shown my organisation and communication through planning our big socials like cheermas which was such a brilliant night thanks to you all!! I also am currently planning our cheer tour and know that I can make sure you all have the most amazing week abroad :))
My main aim this year and hopefully will continue to be is to just ensure everyone has fun and feels connected to the club family. I hope you all feel that I am a friendly face you can always talk to and I want to continue to make our socials a place you can make new friends and have loads of fun :)
