Emma Tan

Hi, I'm Emma, a Y1 Neuro student. lf elected, I'll create a collaborative community where everyone can:

  1. 📗 GROW: I’ll provide resources and opportunities for students, especially freshers, to engage with cancer research. This includes guest speakers from medical and charity fields, “Day in the Life” TikToks, and potential lab & hospital visits. A mentorship platform will pair upper-years with freshers, and a Journal Club will explore cancer in the sciences and arts.

  2. 💗 GIVE: This year, I curated themes for the Cancercare Newsletter and want to expand it into a multimedia format—including comic strips, illustrations, and a print edition celebrated with publishing parties. We’ll also create brochures for Maggie’s/MacMillan and a children’s book to introduce cancer in an accessible way. I’ll work with UCL Volunteering & other societies for hands-on community interaction, while continuing fundraising with bake sales and a Biomedical Charity Ball to support cancer patients.

😊 MY EXPERIENCE: As President of a music education nonprofit, I led bilingual communication, organized fundraisers, and coordinated an online teaching program. As Freshers Rep at CCA, I have skills in leadership, teamwork, and event management, and a deep love for the initiative, all of which I’ll bring to this role.

Let’s drive change together—your voice, your impact!

Zoya Atif

The work of cancer charities is crucial in providing support to those affected by cancer. I am extremely passionate about working alongside these charities to collectively fight the war on cancer. As a second-year Cancer Biomedicine student, my specific subject knowledge equips me to be the next president of the UCL Cancer Charities Alliance Society.

As the current academic and volunteer officer, I have been involved in every aspect of organising and running our key projects; I have managed our "Cancer Care" initiative for lung cancer awareness and was responsible for developing and running our flagship bake sale for MacMillan at every stage. This year I also worked as the marketing officer of UCL MedTech. Our successful marketing strategies improved outreach and engagement with our members and the UCL student body. I hope to emulate this success next year with UCL CCA, increasing the number of events we hold for our members.

I promise to use my insight and experience to strengthen our community, develop impactful alliances, and run inspiring events for our society.
