Jovie Lam

Hi everyone! I’m Jovie, running to be the Welfare Officer and Vice President of Events in UCL Business Society. I have actively participated in key society events such as the DECA Case Championship and the IIC. So far, I have witnessed firsthand how our society has helped me develop professional skills, and I want to give back by improving welfare support and bringing in fresh events to the society.

My initiatives to improve UCL Bizsoc as Welfare Officer and VP of Events include:

  • Maintaining and Enhancing Event Standards: I will ensure our flagship events, such as the DECA Case Championship and the IIC, maintain their high standards while actively seeking improvements to make them even better
  • Expanding Professional Development: I will introduce more events featuring industry professionals from diverse sectors such as finance, consulting, and entrepreneurship to provide members with insights and career guidance
  • Enhancing Member Engagement: I plan to introduce surveys to gather insights from members about their challenges and introduce targeted events to address these concerns

My previous experience as the co-founder of a STEM non-profit organisation has helped me develop strong leadership and communication capabilities that will allow me to excel in the role and support the society’s growth. I am committed to supporting fellow students in becoming successful in the business field all within a supportive and inclusive environment.

The only reason I’m running for this position? I’m an absolute detail fanatic—the kind of person who notices when the font on a poster is slightly off or when the snacks at an event could be just a little better.

This obsession with details means I genuinely care about every member’s experience. I pay close attention to different welfare needs, making sure that everyone—no matter their background—feels valued and supported and gets the most out of their time in society.

And when it comes to events, I don’t just plan them—I fine-tune them. From the way an event flows to how engaging it feels, I make sure everything runs smoothly, participation is at its peak, and everyone walks away with an experience worth remembering!

Vote for me and let me make every second of your time in society brighter!
