Dear Biz Soc Members,

Serving as Competitions Executive this year has been an incredible experience. I had the privilege of working on our flagship event, the DECA Case Championship, connecting with industry professionals, and organizing a case competition that provided both meaningful challenges and valuable networking opportunities for our members.

I still remember the excitement of competition day—seeing participants dive into complex problems, create insightful solutions under pressure, and present their ideas with confidence. The moment their hard work paid off, receiving constructive feedback from judges, was a true testament to the power of these experiences.

That’s why I’m stepping up as Vice President of Competitions—to continue Business Society’s legacy as a hub for aspiring business leaders and a platform that accelerates careers. I am committed to expanding our competitions, providing more opportunities to engage with industry professionals, and ensuring every member gains experience that sharpens their skills and opens doors to future success.

So, if you're ready to take your business skills to the next level, build connections that matter, and compete like a pro—VOTE FOR ME.

Zhuolin Deng

As a strategic thinker with a proven track record in high-stakes, competitive environments, I am driven to elevate UCL Business Society’s competitive edge through innovation, collaboration, and data-driven leadership. My interdisciplinary background in economics, mathematics, and programming equips me with the analytical rigor to design winning strategies.

During the AmplifyMe Trading Simulation, I managed a $20M portfolio with an 88% success rate by balancing risk and reward across volatile sectors. My disciplined risk management (97% BSRM compliance) and ability to outperform benchmarks (Sharpe Ratio: 2.5) reflect my focus on sustainable success.

Leadership is at my core. As Finance Lead in a negotiation competition, I designed financial models that secured a 30% subsidy increase and 15% cost reduction, showcasing my knack for turning constraints into opportunities. Leading Model UN delegations taught me to unite diverse perspectives under a common goal. Beyond technical expertise, I thrive on empowering others. My passion lies in equipping members with tools to excel: from Excel/Python workshops to stress-testing strategies through mock competitions.

UCL Business Society deserves a VP who not only understands competition mechanics but lives them. With my blend of analytical rigor, leadership grit, and unwavering enthusiasm, I am committed to making our society a powerhouse of innovation and excellence. Let’s redefine what winning looks like—together.

Ashley Wong

Hi! I’m Ashley, a current First-Year Executive running to be your Vice-President of Competitions. From participating in DECA and the Impact Investment Championship to engaging in panels and simulations, I align with Business Society’s mission to make consulting, finance, marketing, social entrepreneurship, and more a one-stop platform that’s accessible and impactful for all members.

As VP of Competitions, I will ensure the following:

  • Empowerment: Encourage members to take on challenges, helping them explore their interests and build confidence through meaningful competition experiences.
  • Innovation: Expand our competition portfolio by introducing new categories in high-demand areas such as entrepreneurship, and corporate finance, ensuring there’s something for everyone
  • Clear Communication: Deliver event details in a timely, engaging, and professional manner, ensuring members are well-informed and excited to participate.
  • Skill Development: Equip members with professional skills through networking opportunities and competitions that are directly transferable to their future careers.

Reflecting on my experience in high school as a co-founder of a student organisation, I’ve developed strong skills in communication, creativity, and relationship-building. These experiences have prepared me to take on this role and contribute to the growth and success of Business Society.

Thank you for your support! Together, let’s make Business Society the go-to platform for all things business and beyond!

Jeshon Kwan

The VP of Competitions role gives me the platform for showcasing my leadership & commitment. Through my interactions with the stellar 2024/25 committee and active participation in Business Society competitions & events, I have grown passionate for enhancing the society’s initiatives and providing invaluable opportunities for members.

As VP of Competitions, I will organize high-quality competitions that develop participants' problem-solving & strategic thinking skills. My achievements in the Impact Investment & Consulting Summit Competitions have given me insight into the process of running large-scale smooth competitions. I stand out through these experiences from a participant’s perspective, making me a more effective leader when running the show. Further learning from Celine’s incredible work, I will continue implementing structured competition frameworks and real-world case challenges to prepare students for careers in business, consulting, & finance.

My internship experiences have honed my event planning, stakeholder management, & decision-making skills. I will leverage these to collaborate with corporate leaders and create networking opportunities, ensuring members gain industry insights and mentorship.

I am so driven by the personal growth members can gain through competitions, refining their presentation, teamwork, & analytical skills. Working closely with the new committee, I am confident in strengthening the society’s role in preparing students for professional success.
