As a certified only child, I am well-versed in the art of capital acquisition from reluctant superiors and I have learned to navigate the fine line between being an initiative-taking, charismatic beneficiary and a dreadful pest-like scrounger; I believe this talent may prove to be useful if our society is in need of extra funding for essential (or non-essential ) operations.

My previous roles in industry gives me the skills and experience needed to manage the funds of the society in a responsible and sustainable way:

  • Currently work as a junior accountant, filing tax returns, conducting regular financial analyses, and managing client records. (2022-Present)
  • Implemented a faster Excel-based data input and analysis system, significantly boosting team productivity.
  • Served as a bookkeeper for a local contracting company, gaining hands-on funding management experience. (2019-2020)

Underpinning my agenda is the support of collaboration and connection between societies, departments, students and committee members – cultivating a friendly environment within the society through well-funded social and recreational events.

In short, I believe that I could be a valuable asset to our society, in part due to my  “Qualifications and Charisma” ( –my Mother) and also due to my caring, passionate nature. I look forward to serving you (as an only child).

Marihah Nasser-Sheikh

Hi, I’m Marihah and I’m running for the role of Treasurer next year!

As Treasurer I want to maximise the number of opportunities that are available to our club and improve the general day-to-day rowing experience at UCL by managing finances efficiently and using all available resources whether that be through fundraising events, keeping up alumni donations or other sources such as the student union. I believe I can do a really good job of this role with my strong organisation and time keeping skills, budget management and previous experience as Maintenance Officer where I have come to understand just how much goes on off the water financially to make sure things work and run smoothly so we can enjoy our water sessions as much as possible - which is, ultimately, the main goal!

I have rowed with UCL for two years now and have loved it, so would really love to be able to give back to the club in a meaningful way that can hopefully set up and maintain a strong foundation to ensure that more people can enjoy the sport here!
