Etienne Royer-Gray

After four amazing years, countless regrettable Roxy nights, racing highs, and huge memories, RUMSBC has shaped my life in ways I never imagined. Following Kira’s incredible presidency, I’m ready to build on our success and lead us into a new era of UH domination!

So, why me? With 3 years on committee, I’ve seen RUMSBC from every angle – training novices, leading seniors, and all the behind-the-scenes work that keeps us thriving. As Novice and Senior Men’s Captain, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to support rowers at every level, ensuring strong squad cohesion and UH success. As President of RUMS Welfare, I’ve gained the experience to lead a committee efficiently and create a fun and inclusive club culture on and off the water.

If elected, my three main focus points are:

  1. Maintaining our competitive edge – Ensure we make up for lost water time through new land-training initiatives, structured fitness programs, and enhancing our coaching through a dedicated mentorship scheme for new captains.
  2. Strengthening our club culture & socials – Help to create a diverse mix of events around the rowing calendar, fostering novice-senior integration from the Boathouse to the Huntley.
  3. Equipment & Growth – Leverage my Welfare VP experience to secure new funding streams, with continued investment in key equipment and safety to ensure the club’s long-term success.

Being able to give back as President of RUMSBC would be the honour of a lifetime - I promise to give it my all!💙💛

Matous Schnabel

Have you seen RUMS lately, horrible. And I tell you why UCL, they aren't medics, and frankly, they're not bad people, but they send us their worst. The lazy ones, the freeloaders, all they do is sit in the boat and let us medics carry them. And the previous administrations, honestly, horrible, they do nothing against this invasion. They even actively invite them. They want to replace you with the filthy non-medics. And frankly, I know how to stop this. We are going to fill in the wall between our bay and the UCLBC bay, and UCL is going to pay for that. I've heard, someone told me that there are people from UCL and they come to our bay, our beautiful, magnificent bay, and they just use our hospitality. They go through the holes in the wall, crawl under the boats, and THEY'RE TAKING THE RIGGER JIGGERS. That was reported to me, someone saw them, it happened and the corrupt secretary doesn't want to tell the truth. And the fees, all these administrations are raising the fees. I tell you I'm going to slash those astronomic fees. I have an idea of a solution, we are going to slash the administration. Everything non-essential, out. The social reps, out. Why do we have 2 boatswains, we don't need either, out. The paddles, out, the boats out. I tell you, they say all these lies, the establishment. They say I am not a medic, completely made up. And my opponent, first he is French and suddenly he is English. And another thing... (the speech went on for another 2 meaningless hours)

Mathura Kathirgamanathan

I would love the opportunity to be your RUMSBC President this year. It is a role I never expected to go for, but after my time as Cox Captain, I’ve realised how much I enjoy leading and looking after a community. I want to continue that energy into next year:

My Vision for Next Year 🚀

🔥 Stronger Novice & Senior Integration

  • Introduce a RUMSBC Families/Buddy Program, pairing seniors with freshers to build connections and support.

🎉 Socials and Welfare

  • RUMSBC BBQ
  • Day-time socials
  • Bring a focus on committee welfare

💪 Maximising Training

  • Monthly land training at Putney/ Furnivall, including fun erg relays to boost team spirit and integration in the club
  • Work with John & external clubs to explore professional coaching opportunities.
  • Extra water outings on different days?
  • Bring a focus on regatta racing—keeping the momentum from UH Head through to summer.

💰 Sponsorship & Funding

  • Secure new sponsors to fund equipment, training, and rowing experiences.
  • Work with the Union to explore funding and reimbursement opportunities. As a former RUMS Events VP, I’ve got strong negotiation skills and a track record of making things happen.

As Cox Captain, I’ve seen firsthand the power of building relationships with other clubs and fostering a culture of teamwork and support. I want to bring that same drive and passion to this role—advocating for RUMSBC, securing opportunities, and making sure every member feels valued.

Let’s make this an incredible year together! 💙🚣‍♀️
