I am applying for the role of novice women's captain because I want to make novice rowing a fun and enjoyable experience so that I can encourage people to start rowing and also to continue it throughout their time at university. I think that I would be a good leader and coach for the new joiners of RUMSBC because although I have only been a member for a short time I have already gotten a feel of what the club strives for and how it runs. I have experience with coaching rowing at Fulham Reach boat club, previously as a volunteer and now starting as a part-time coach, so I would be able to develop novice rowers, not only in their technique but in their understanding of rowing as a sport including navigating the Tideway, races and everything that comes with starting rowing.

I would LOVE to be novice women's captain. Cliché but honest – my novice year in RUMSBC was one of the best of my life. Thanks to the hard work of my novice captain, social secs, and committee, I had the most incredibly fun and crazy time. This is the same squad culture I am determined to recreate for the novices next year.
Being social sec this year has given me huge insight into the novice captain role. I’ve worked closely with this year’s novice captains to integrate the novices into the club and I understand the dedication that goes into this role both on the water and behind the scenes. Since FDATR, I’ve been a friendly face the novices can rely on for a wild time and any support they may need. I’m committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive family with insane vibes that keeps them coming back for more!
The times I've been in the launch with Scarlett and have helped with the nov land training have been so fun and rewarding and I'm so excited to coach the novices right from the beginning. My competitive side is determined to bring the fire to training next year, both on the water and on the ergs to create a winning mindset within my novice crew. I really believe I could encourage a perfect balance of passion for the sport and also the wilder aspects of our club within my crew.
Vote for me to cultivate confident, fiery novices who are determined to win medals and who come away from the year with a loving family, some ridiculous stories, and an ingrained love of RUMSBC.
