Siang Jia Woon

I used to participate in peer to peer support in my old school and learnt some counselling skill. Therefore, I will try my best to resolve every with minimised consequences. I will also try to attend most session of the biomedical science activities to ensure the wellbeing of every members.

Nicole Lee

Hi everyone! I’m Nicole Lee and I'm running for Welfare Officer of the UCL Biomedical Sciences Society. Having taken biomedical sciences in the first year, I have experienced how substantial the jump can be from high school to university, as well as studying a course that is so dense in content. From the inconvenient hour-long gaps between lectures to 9 a.m. every single day in the first term, I understand that these circumstances can be exhausting and make it difficult to stay motivated. As a result, I want to support students by promoting wellbeing and providing resources to help manage such stress

As Welfare Officer, I plan to

  • Introduce academic support initiatives, which aim to include organizing year-long peer support/mentoring programs to allow students to support one another, while bringing students together for guidance and advice.
  • Organise more networking and careers events to help students get an idea of what they want to do after Biomed
  • Create group study sessions for students to come together as a fun and effective way to study with company

Additionally, I look forward to collaborating with other committee members to organize more social events to connect students across different year groups and backgrounds, such as themed gatherings, baking sessions, potlucks and continuation of biomed families.

My main aim is to help students tackle their stress by incorporating fun aspects along with studying to create an engaging and rewarding learning experience for us all.

Thavisha Jayawardana

Hey everyone, I’m a 2nd year biomedical sciences student and I’m excited to be running for Welfare Officer for the UCL Biomedical Sciences Society this year!

I believe that a strong, supportive, and inclusive community is key to making our society a space where every member thrives. University can be both a rewarding but challenging experience, and I want to ensure that all students feel supported—academically, socially, and mentally. I will act as a reliable point of contact between members and the committee and will be there to address all of your issues and be a safe space to discuss any concerns, society related or not while working closely with the committee to resolve welfare issues that come up.

I’m ready to bring energy, dedication and fresh ideas to this role and will be committed to ensuring that the society runs smoothly. Thank you for considering my nomination!
