Having been involved in this club, I find it difficult to imagine my university experience without it. It provided me with opportunities to explore my interests and develop my social skills to it’s greatest capacity. It has provided me with a platform for engaging with like-minded individuals, expand my perspectives, and actively contributing to a community I am truly passionate about.
This year I was an active member in the club as I attended career events and socials organsied my the biomedical society. However, I think the scope for such a niche society is way more. I want to work with my fellow peers to take this club to the next level and make it more versatile. I am prepared to take on additional responsibilities within the club. I am eager to contribute to events and social gatherings not only as a participant but also as someone who can assist in planning and organizing them. I am particularly interested in the position of treasurer, as it would enable me to coordinate money, facilitate feasibility and enhance our organizational effectiveness. I believe my natural organizational skills and mathematical skills will allow me to excel in this role if given the opportunity.
Why Me?
Financial Proficiency & Budgeting Experience
I'm proficient in Excel and budgeting. As Head of Events at school, I organised social and fundraising events, including a 300+ person ball and after-party, effectively managing costs and budgeting to ensure financial efficiency.
Experience with the Student Union
Through my role on the Hockey Committee, I have worked with the Student Union, gaining experience in navigating financial regulations and ensuring compliance with university guidelines.
Administrative Support & Teamwork
I am eager to assist the President and Committee with administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations and contribute beyond just financial matters.
My Plans as Treasurer
Securing Sponsorships – I will acquire sponsors within and outside the biomedical field to fund events, expanding opportunities while keeping membership fees low.
Introducing Merchandise – Launching society-branded hoodies and t-shirts to build identity and generate additional funds.
Enhancing Events & Financial Sustainability – By managing funds efficiently and increasing revenue, we can host more social events, networking opportunities, and academic workshops without financial strain.
I am committed to helping the Biomedical Sciences Society grow and providing the best experience for members. With my experience, I will ensure responsible financial management while seeking new opportunities for development.
