I am standing for Vice President because UCL Basketball Society has been a huge part of my university experience, and I want to contribute to its growth and success. Playing for the 4th team this year has given me a real appreciation for the sense of community within the club, and I want to help ensure that all members, whether competitive players or social players, have the best possible experience.
As VP, I would work closely with the President and committee to improve organisation and ensure the smooth running of the society. My experience as an Academic Representative has strengthened my leadership and communication skills, which I believe are essential for this role. I am also highly organised and proactive, always looking for ways to improve and make a positive impact.
I care deeply about this society and want to help it thrive. Whether it’s supporting our teams, organising events, or ensuring all members feel included, I will be dedicated to making UCL Basketball better for everyone.
Hi all,
This will be my final year with the club, I have previously been part of the committee as 2nd team captain so I know my in and outs and how to run a team yet also how to work and manage the society. This year i organised tryouts, the 3x3 competition and the social media accounts so i will be able to share on how to do this. I have written down a few plans i want to put in place for next year :
Change the format for tryouts - This will mean new players will have more chances and more stages to make a team. The idea is having multiple tryouts at the start of the year for everyone and then from those make a second tryout for those good enough to play for a team. Then everyone will compete and play against each other and captains and coaches will decide from there.
Socials - I wants to start having more basketball socials with other universities and societies with different themes and put a bigger budget into those
Social basketball opportunities - I want to add more tournaments and friendly pick up games at better courts for social basketball whether that is a 3x3 competition or a 3 points contest or friendlies against other unis or teams.
Brining UCL basketball to the national level - We want to try get UCL 1s into NBL div 4 for south eastern.
Alumni games and contacts - Finally, I want to keep good connections with alumni's . This involves hosting games with them and having socials open to them.
