Hi my name is Kiko a 2nd Year in Bsc, and I am running to be your 25/26 Welfare officer.

In this upcoming academic year I hope to create an environment that ensures that every students mental and physical well being is heard and attended to. Self doubt and conflict is always constant but I believe that working at your own speed in this demanding course is achievable through finding your work life balance and I hope for everyone to achieve that.

Things I hope on implementing:
- Striving to create an open communication between society, comittee and members to create a safe and constant mental space
- Anonymus suggestions related to what needs to be improved for the well being of students, bringing it to light towards leadership
- Connecting students and staff to the right guidance
- Promoting the use and development of the student space as a way of finding mental break
- Continuation and connecting students from all year groups allowing to share their experiences and advice through the Bartlett Buddy programme.

With diversity and engagement as core agendas, my interests lie in exploring the social opportunities that architecture can offer, as well as fostering exchange across people from different stages of their journeys in the Bartlett. This year, I have assisted in organisational tasks within the society, such as the preparation of multiple talks and the sketch picnic. As a nominated committee member, my goals are to:

1. Reach out to guests speakers from within and beyond the architecture industry (film, game design, arts), gaining insight on alternate career paths.
2. Enhancing facilities and usage of the GF student space (for instance table tennis, board games and movie screenings)
3. Promoting dialogue between juniors and seniors through formal and informal means (open forum, roundtable, food chats, pub socials)
4. Organising and securing resources for the Bartlett Ball
5. Potential Bartlett-based photography / design competition

I strive to place the student experience as my foremost priority and look forward to a refreshing and rewarding year!

Starting at the Bartlett can feel overwhelming—balancing intense coursework, studio culture, and personal life isn’t easy. I know from experience how valuable it would have been to have someone outside of academic staff to turn to for guidance and support. That’s why I’m running for Welfare Officer—to create a stronger support network for students, ensuring that everyone feels welcome, heard, and at home within the Bartlett community. I genuinely enjoy talking to people and helping them navigate challenges, whether they’re struggling with coursework stress, finding their place in the school, or simply needing someone to listen. University can sometimes feel isolating, and I want to ensure that no one at the Bartlett feels like they have to go through it alone. My goal is to foster an environment where students feel supported—not just academically, but socially and emotionally.
A key initiative I want to focus on is expanding Bartlett Buddies. It’s a fantastic program, but I believe it has the potential to reach more students across different courses. Right now, it’s primarily targeted at BSc students, but I want to extend it to postgraduates and students in other Bartlett programs. Everyone deserves a strong support system, and by promoting Bartlett Buddies more widely, we can create a more interconnected and cohesive student environment. I also want to increase awareness about the program, ensuring that more students know they have access to peer support.
