Hello everyone! I'm running for Events Officer because I want to continue building on the amazing legacy of past events while bringing fresh opportunities to our Bartlett community. I aim to foster more collaboration with other departments like the photography society, bringing together diverse perspectives and create opportunities for exciting, interdisciplinary events. I also aim to build stronger connections and communications between year groups to create more interesting opportunities for us to exchange ideas and advises, as the current floor based system means we rarely get to meet up with studnets from other bartlett courses. If given this opportunity, I will aim to expand the opportunities for networking, learning, and creativity. I appreciate your time and consideration, and I look forward to the opportunity to support our very own Bartlett community in UCL. Thank you!

Ethan Sim

To me, the Bartlett Society has always offered a welcoming space where students can explore architecture beyond the classroom. Although I haven’t been a formal member for a majority of the year, I’ve especially appreciated how the society includes so many events which allow non-members to drop-in. I’ve particularly enjoyed the sketching picnic and the Bartlett Ball—each providing unique opportunities to connect with fellow students. Previously, I’ve enjoyed pitching in, whether by helping set up events or helping the members hand out posters. This year, I’m ready to increase my involvement by running for Events Officer.
When it comes to organizing events, I rely on structure and foresight. I try to anticipate potential hurdles and address them before they escalate, whether by booking speakers and venues well in advance, managing logistical details carefully, or stepping in to resolve last-minute challenges. I believe in being proactive: if a job needs doing, I jump in and collaborate with the right people to see it done properly.
I also recognize that the Society’s success depends on solid teamwork. While my primary responsibility would be planning and executing events, I’m committed to supporting fellow committee members whenever they need help. Whether it’s brainstorming new ideas with the President, strengthening our social media presence, or pitching in wherever an extra hand is needed, I’m always ready to contribute.

Olga Grogolova

I am Olga Grogolova, a second-year BSc Architecture student, and I am excited to run for the position of Events Officer. I would love to bring closer the diverse Bartlett community through more events of all kinds—fun, networking, and career growth!

If elected, I would organize more events that bring the whole of Bartlett together in a relaxed atmosphere—pub crawls, breakfast meet-ups, game nights, and more! I want to create opportunities for students from different faculties and years to connect and get to know each other.

In addition to fostering a vibrant student life within Bartlett, I will continue developing connections between Bartlett and other universities while creating new ones. For instance, I plan to establish a joint program of events and lectures with AA, encouraging collaboration and shared learning.

Last but not least, I hope to organize a fantastic Bartlett Ball—an unforgettable event for all of us! I will take on the challenge of finding a venue just as incredible as our 2025 Ball and promise an unforgettable night with great vibes and amazing music.

I am genuinely excited to contribute to Bartlett’s event life and make our community more connected, vibrant, and engaging. So let’s make it a great year ahead!

Christopher H Tao

I have always been passionate about engaging in social activities and contributing to the communities I am part of. This is why I am nominating myself for the Events Officer of Bartlett Society—to use this platform to make Bartlett a place where debates happen and encounters flourish.

During high school, I served as the Chair of the Student Union, where I initiated a music festival with 4,000 attendees and student-school conversations that have since become a school tradition. As someone who thrives on new ideas, I excel at connecting different activities into cohesive, inspiring experiences.

Being in Bartlett has further fueled my creativity. This year, I am particularly focused on expanding academic-based discussions. Current talks at Bartlett and Bartlett Society remain largely one-way dialogues, with a clear divide between "guest" and "audience." I want to introduce a more interactive, two-way format that fosters direct engagement with speakers. (Proposals have already been submitted to the 2024-25 committee.)This is just the beginning. With strong planning and collaboration skills, I believe I can take the team to create bold, experimental, and meaningful activities that align with the President’s mission for Bartlett Society this year.

Ultimately, I am standing for Event Officer not only to challenge myself but to contribute my ambition toward making Bartlett an even more vibrant and dynamic space.

Make Debates Happen. Let Encounters Flourish.
