BSoc has built huge momentum over the past year, and I believe we can take it even further. As the current First Year Rep, I’ve been a part of the decision-making process and seen firsthand what makes this society thrive. Now, I’m running for President to ensure that BSoc continues to grow, creating more opportunities, better events, and a stronger community for everyone.
As YOUR President I will deliver:
- Expanded and enhanced games nights -Games Nights are the heart of BSoc, and I will ensure they remain consistent & engaging. I will leverage my unique connections across UCL and London to expand collaborations and make them bigger and better.
- Cultural Growth – I will host a Cultural Night and commemorate Victory Day & Ekushey February, alongside Bengali language classes to preserve our heritage and make it accessible for all members.
- Girls events -The Girls' Nights have been a huge success, and I will ensure we continue and expand them. Building on the success of the boys football team, I also intend to introduce girls badminton team to foster sport for all.
- Off campus events - Day trips to Oxford, hiking, go-karting & paintballing are a taster of what I want to implement for a more dynamic BSOC experience.
- Exclusive career events – Networking events & mentorship programs to increase Bengali visibility in top industries.
With your support, I will deliver an amazing year ahead—bigger events, stronger connections, and a BSoc that truly represents our community, Inshallah.

i’m sumi, a y1 psych student running to be your next BSoc president!
embracing bengali culture and expanding this community is so dear to me - from the intricacies of our language to the many many celebrations for our freedom fighters, i'm always learning more. plus BSoc is a great place to find your people when starting uni, which is why I want to sustain that energy going forward. this year, i have actively helped organise our events, such as the iconic games nights, victory dinner and galentines. i’ve seen the ins and outs of it all and know how we can improve to make events even better for next year ;)
a look into choosing me as president...
- i’ll ensure consistent casual events - including movie nights, collabs with other cultural societies, or the classic chaiiwala social - so that even if you miss one (you better not), there’ll be plenty of opportunities to get your friends together and catch up
- nothing’s worse than a cute outfit rotting in your wardrobe so i’ll implement a couple events where we can dress up desi and dig out all the asian clothes we barely ever wear
- i’m determined to continue our work with fundraising for MAA Month, via a strategic schedule with additional initiatives, and defend our spot in the rankings
- for new members, an optional buddy system so you’ll never have to show up to your first socials alone
i’ve had so much fun being the first-year rep and i really want to keep this momentum going for both our current members and the new ones next year!! :)
