Growing up as a Bangladeshi in Spain and then England, I’ve always felt like I was navigating between two worlds. My family kept our heritage alive at home, but outside, I often felt disconnected from my roots. Joining our Bangladeshi Cultural Society changed that—it became a space where I could fully embrace my identity and feel a sense of belonging. That’s why I’m running for Events Coordinator: I want to help create that same feeling for others.
This role is deeply personal to me. I understand how important it is to stay connected to our culture, especially when living far from home. I want to organise events that celebrate our heritage in meaningful ways—cultural festivals, food nights, language workshops, and more. These events won’t just be about having fun; they’ll be about creating spaces where we can share stories, learn from each other, and feel proud of where we come from.
But beyond the events themselves, I want to foster a sense of community. I want everyone in this society to feel seen, valued, and at home. Whether you grew up in Bangladesh, like me, grew up abroad, or are simply curious about our culture, I want this society to be a place where you can connect, make lifelong friends, and feel like you belong.
Thank you for considering me!
