Given we are so far away from home, I think it’s important our Antipodean community has plenty of opportunities to come together. As president, I would hope to implement the following ideas:

  1. Social evenings at pubs.
  2. NZ vs Australia sports viewings, such as for Bledisloe Cup, cricket, or Constellation Cup.
  3. Social sports, such as a run club or touch rugby teams.
  4. Visits to our respective embassies.

UCL is a big university and it’s always a pleasure to meet a fellow Kiwi or Aussie around campus. I hope, with your trust of me as president of this society, we may have more opportunities to do so.

Emma Readdy

As an Aussie, there's one reason I came to London: to hang out with other Aussies! From pub crawls and sports watch parties, to trying to find proper coffee and sushi, I see leading ANZO as a great opportunity to bring enthusiasm and fun into a historically small society. With plans to make mates with similar societies at London unis, and attend Aussie's and New Zealander's in London events, I'd hope to expand the club's activities to wider events happening in London.

Whilst I've made some amazing friends from home at UCL through classes and chance, finding familiar accents is difficult amongst the sea of Brits: if given the opportunity, I'd love to re-energise and grow ANZO, fostering a casual, but tight-knit community for Australian, New Zealand, and Oceanic students far from home.
