Samantha Fisher

Hi everyone!

I’m Sami, a second year BA Archaeology and Anthropology student, and I am thrilled to be running for Welfare Officer of the UCL Anthropology Society. As an international student, I understand how challenging it can be to adjust to university life, particularly in a new country and a new academic environment. This perspective motivates me to make sure the Anthropology Society is a welcoming and inclusive space where everyone feels comfortable and supported.

As Welfare Officer, I want to create an environment where all members feel they can thrive, whether they’re dealing with the pressures of academics, adjusting to life in the UK, or just need someone to talk to. I will ensure that mental health resources and support networks are easily accessible to everyone. I also aim to create more opportunities for open and honest conversations about well-being and challenges we face as students, ensuring that everyone feels heard and supported.

Most importantly, I want to make sure that the society is a space where every member, no matter their background or experience, feels they truly belong. Together, we can foster a culture of kindness, empathy, and support in our community!

Thank you for considering me for the role!
