I am running for Vice President of the Afro-Caribbean Society because I am passionate about creating a supportive and empowering community for our members. The Afro-Caribbean Society is more than just a student group—it is a space for cultural expression, networking, and personal growth, and I am committed to helping it thrive.
ACS has had a huge impact on my first-year University experience. I’ve found lifelong friends, laughed and made so many memories. This experience motivated me to nominate myself for Vice President to ensure the next cohort of first years have an experience as good as mine.
As a former prefect, I am confident in my ability to be a successful Vice President. This role allowed me to develop valuable leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to support and represent my peers effectively. I focused on listening to concerns, mediating discussions, and ensuring that every voice was heard. Additionally, leading the social committee allowed me to gain valuable event-planning experience. I organised events that brought people together by managing logistics, coordinating teams and promoting events effectively to ensure high participation. Therefore, I believe that I have the qualities that are essential for a Vice President.
If elected, I will work closely with the President to ensure that the future of ACS continues to thrive. I will advocate for the inclusivity of all ACS members and the enrichment of events planned throughout the year.

I am applying for the role of Vice President as I want to help the ACS continue to be a space where students feel connected and celebrated. I am eager to contribute to its success by fostering unity, celebrating our culture, and creating meaningful opportunities. My leadership experience as a Senior Equity Prefect and Student Ambassador has equipped me with the skills to promote inclusivity, organise impactful events, and represent the voices of a diverse student body.
I will focus on strengthening our society in three key areas: cultural representation, community engagement, and professional development. I would introduce new initiatives to strengthen our community and enhance the ACS experience. One key idea is a buddy program, pairing first-year students with older students to provide guidance and encouragement as they transition into university life. Additionally, I aim to create more networking opportunities, collaborating with professionals and alumni to offer mentorship and career insights across various fields, including STEM. I also hope to expand our cultural and social events, including heritage celebrations, cultural showcases, and a food tasting cook-off, where members can showcase and enjoy authentic African and Caribbean cuisine. These initiatives would not only celebrate our diverse traditions but also bring our community together in a fun way.
My goal is to work alongside the executive team to make ACS even more engaging, supportive, and empowering.
