Hey, I'm Aya and I'm a first year Politics and IR student and I am half-Sudanese and half-Eritrean; I'm running to be the events officer for the ACS as I want to make more people feel welcome to come to our society events.

I have had experience in organising events for charity, whether that be private events or events for a large group of people, such as community events in my estate where I helped organise events for over 200 residents. As your events officer, I can promise you that my organisational skills and expertise in event planning makes me the most suitable candidate for the job. I will liaise with members of the committee to create events which cater to everyone's needs, whether that be having a girls night, no alcohol or doing events in collaboration with other societies, not just at UCL but other universities too!

Ultimately as your events officer I would love to create events which everyone can enjoy. Some things I would hope to put into place would be as follows:

  • Regular email and social media updates about events so you don't forget!
  • More events that allow the society to work alongside charities to raise awareness about the issues impacting our people
  • Having a culture night in collaboration with other universities so we can meet new people and share our experiences from different backgrounds

I believe that my experience in event planning on a large scale provides me with the necessary skills to be your events officer.

Vote Aya to be your ACS events officer now:)
