Hello everyone! I'm Jankin, a first-year student at UCL BSc Crime and Security Science, and I'm thrilled to announce my candidacy for the position of
Sports Secretary & Welfare Officer. Originally from Hong Kong, I have always been passionate about sports, and have been a massive football and
basketball fan since a young age.
Sports have played a major role in my life, offering me opportunities to forge friendships, develop teamwork skills, and grow personally. I've had the
privilege of representing the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC) U18 Rowing Team and the Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC) U18 Lucky Mile Football
Team for over 3 years. With over 11 years experience in badminton, I earned a bronze medal for the school team in my final year. I am also currently playing
for UCL RedStar Football Team 3. Participating in the ABACUS Football event this year was a highlight for me, and I'm eager to bring more exciting events
to our society.
If elected, I plan to organise engaging sports events, including ABACUS football and basketball teams to compete in tournaments with other schools. I also
aim to broaden the range of sports offered and ensure events are held regularly.
As your Sports Secretary & Welfare Officer, my priority will be ensuring that every member feels safe, included, and valued (e.g. at clubs). I'm approachable
and always ready to listen, so please share your ideas and concerns with me. Let’s work together to make this year an incredible one for ABACUS sports!
I am applying for welfare officer/sports secretary because I am passionate about bringing people together through movement. I also love collaborating and planning with others, which why I feel like this role would be rewarding for me.
