Anastasiia Tymko

As a Ukrainian citizen who pursued education in England, I've encountered challenges that gave me motivation to excel. Witnessing the intricate interplay between global economics and political dynamics firsthand has fueled my ambition to leave a meaningful mark. In seeking the Head of Relations and Outreach position at the Women in Finance Society, I bring forth a blend of top-tier education received in an all-girls institution and a dedication to promoting gender equality in finance. My academic journey as an economics student has been enriched by active participation in events such as the LSE Alternative Investment Conference. These experiences not only deepened my understanding of alternative sectors but also underscored the imperative of empowering women in traditionally male-dominated fields. My track record in developing partnerships stands as a testament to my ability to expand networks and amplify impact. Through past experiences in the Ukrainian government, I have developed strong relationships with diverse organisation. My vision for the society harmonises seamlessly with its core objectives of fostering diversity, inclusion, and professional growth. I am ready to introduce innovative strategies to broaden our reach and create impactful opportunities for personal and career development. In summary, my diverse background, educational pedigree, and unwavering commitment make me an ideal candidate to lead relations and outreach efforts for the Women in Finance Society.

India Deans-Smith

Hello, my name is India and I am thrilled to be applying for the role of Head of Relations and Outreach. I am a fifth-year medical student and have been involved in many UCL committees including being President of the UCL Society "Sexpression" for two consecutive years and also acting as the Diversity and Inclusion Executive for the UCL MedTech Committee. My experiences in both of these societies have required me to foster relationships with external organisations, whether that be local schools to hold teaching sessions for Sexpression, finding speakers for panel discussions, and liaising with committee members in the form of a weekly newsletter. My prior experience means that I know how to work as an effective part of a high-functioning committee and I know what is required of an efficient Relations and Outreach committee member.

I have experienced a warm welcome into the society and have enjoyed a plethora of events held by the society including HSBC share the vision. I am keen to further integrate into WinF by holding a committee position and I am excited to see how the society develops over the next year.

Thank you!

Mariam Keyvani

Hi everyone! My name is Mariam and I am a French and Spanish student, running to be Head of Relations and Outreach this year. Having participated in the amazing workshops and insight days so far, I would love to implement the following initiatives as part of the society:

International Reach

  • Guest speaker events with a focus on international careers within finance.
  • Opportunities and preparation for internships and postings abroad.
  • Collaborations with UCL Subject Departments, Language Societies, Careers, and Universities abroad to connect with like-minded students and expand their network.

Diversity and First-Generation Network

  • Work in collaboration with external organisations such as GAIN and Fairfield Enterprise to build confidence.
  • Career events from both buy-side and sell-side, niche roles, and a focus on helping explore career options.
  • Technical training and soft skills preparation from professionals ahead of Spring Weeks and internships, which one may not have had exposure to prior.

I am passionate about social mobility and D&I. As well as continuing the already incredible initiatives as part of WinF, I hope to be able to bring new perspectives that will inspire girls of any background to build their confidence during and beyond their time at UCL.

Sabrina Song

Hi everyone! I’m Sabrina, a first year BSc Statistics, Economics and Finance student, running to be the Head of Relations & Outreach for WinF next year.

As my High School Student Council’s Vice President, head of various service committees, and a passionate member of WinF, I believe I can thrive in this role. My experiences include leading female empowerment initiatives, and in that process, working with women of diverse backgrounds, and conducting career-related interviews with my High School’s alumni. I am confident in utilising my communication and interpersonal skills to foster WinF’s bond with our alumni community.

As the Head of Relations & Outreach, I will enforce the following agenda:

  • Unify alumni network through the Linkedin group chat and other forms of social media. I will aim to send out monthly newsletters regarding WinF’s recent activities so that our alumni can feel included in our actions and progress.
  • Strengthen connections:
    • Between students and alumni: by organising more speaker’s events for alumni to share their professional insights, as well as networking events such as dinners and structured speed-networking.
    • Between alumni: by organising WinF’s alumni social networking events. This will benefit the alumni to expand their professional network, and in turn be more motivated to support our members.

By voting for me, I will be proactive in strengthening our network to establish new opportunities for our society!

Olympia Bouriez

I am eager to express my interest in the role of Head of Relations and Outreach within UCL Women in Finance Society. Establishing a strong network of communication is vital for the growth of our society. Given the challenges women face in contrast to men in building these connections, the creation of a robust network is crucial.

My vision as Head of Relations and Outreach is to bridge the gap between finance and emergent technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, which stands at the forefront of financial innovation. In these innovative partnerships and connections, I aim to position our society at the forefront of upcoming financial evolution, ensuring we are primed for the next wave of financial technology.

Anticipating my upcoming internship at Rothschild & co bank, I see a direct pathway to enhancing our society's ties with prestigious financial entities. This role provides a platform to harness these new connections for our society’s benefit.

In my previous internship at Monnier Paris, I shadowed the communication officer, developing my skills in engaging with diverse audiences, from individual customers to large retailers, and learned how to create captivating newsletters. This experience has not only fueled my enthusiasm for communication, but also equipped me with the necessary abilities to expand our society's influence and develop a network that serves our members' aspirations.

Ishanvi Arora

My involvement as a first-year representative, welfare officer and mentor in the women in finance society over the last 2 years has deepened my interest and passion to contribute to this society. I plan to make changes in the committee's current work. I hope to use our foundation and enhance it to ensure the Women In Finance Society is the place for any girl looking for a career in finance. I also aim to increase the socials we host to ensure that all members get adequate chances to network and meet like-minded individuals.

In an already male-dominated industry, it is important to empower each other and this society is a start in the right direction.

Here's why you should vote for me:

1. Elevating Our Society: I'll enhance our foundation to make our society the top choice for finance careers.

2. Empowering Your Success: I'll provide resources and support to help you thrive in finance.

3. Expanding Networking: More social events mean more chances to connect with others in the field.

4. Your Voice Matters: I'll advocate for ensuring our society meets your needs.

Together, let's make our investment society the best it can be.

I appreciate your support.
