Coming into Rums as a fresher was particularly challenging, but it was almost in an instant that Rums Tennis became my home away from home. Seeing how close we’ve become within the last few months has been one of the best surprises of my uni journey so far. Relying so much on this year’s committee for my transition into UCL, there’s nothing I’d love more than to be able to provide the next set of freshers with a similar experience to mine.

As a result of being to the majority of matches, as well as almost all trainings, it’s safe to say I’ve gotten a broad overview of what the responsibilities of women’s captain would entail. This year, we were extremely dependent on them for gathering players for matches, structuring training, and ultimately uniting us as a team. I know I’d be able to mimic the same cohesiveness we’ve had this year as I realise the importance of supporting each other off, just as much as on court.

Having built a strong relationship with the team, I’m grateful they’d feel comfortable to approach me with any concerns or feedback they might have. I realise what we’re capable, so look forward to cultivating a positively competitive environment where we all aim to reach our greatest potential.
