Being a welfare officer for the UCL homelessness society is more than just a role, it is a chance to lead big changes and make sure everyone in the community feels safe, respected, and supported. If I were to be the welfare officer , I would be at the forefront of making the ucl homelessness society welcoming and caring. My dedication would not only meet immediate needs but it would also help build society where everyone, no matter what their situation and background can find comfort and support and feel safe in this society. Taking on this role for me means I want to be the one to bring about good change and speak up for those who need it the most. I have a strong sense of understanding and a strong desire to break down the stigma surrounding mental health problems. This isnt just a role, but its a chance for me to put  my own story of strength into the fabric of a community, making it more open and making sure no one feels alone in their battle. I want to be part of the committee in this society where i can contribute to a good cause and make sure everyone feels welcome, supported and heard and to always spread kindness wherever i go.

Adyan Javeed

As a member of the UCL SAAH community, I am deeply attuned to the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness on a daily basis. Witnessing the prevalence of homelessness in our vicinity and the struggles individuals endure in accessing basic necessities troubles me deeply.

I am standing for the position of Welfare Officer because I firmly believe in the power of compassion, collective action and community engagement to address pressing social issues. My commitment with regards to alleviating homelessness lies through leveraging the resources and influence of our society to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.  If entrusted with the role of Welfare Officer, alongside my member care duties I envision an opportunity to spearhead and support initiatives aimed at aiding the homeless population in our area. This could involve organising outreach programs, establishing partnerships with societies we are yet to collaborate with, or through the advocation of policy changes that address the root causes of homelessness. I am determined to dedicate my efforts toward alleviating homelessness and fostering a more compassionate community.

Together, I am confident that we can harness our collective compassion and resources to make a positive impact on the lives of those experiencing homelessness.

Regardless of outcome, I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with you all for positive change. ❤️
