Megan Tan

Keeping the essence of Singaporean culture and spirit while away from home holds immense significance to me. As we navigate the challenges & triumphs of university life, I am aware of the importance of fostering a sense of belonging & camaraderie among Singaporeans. I believe that as Vice President & Welfare Officer, my duty is to serve as a catalyst for unity & support within Singsoc.

Personally, my time on the junior committee has been incredibly insightful & fulfilling, offering me invaluable first-hand experience in event planning. If I were to be elected, I intend to continue the efforts initiated by the previous committee while also introducing fresh initiatives based on feedback. I value each & every person, so I promise to lend a listening ear to anyone who needs it and I am not afraid to speak up for those who feel isolated or marginalised.

I also understand the importance of planning activities and events that naturally encourage engagement and involvement. I would like to hold more informal social gatherings. For instance, a themed movie night featuring Singaporean films, potluck, & also cultural immersion nights to explore the rich tapestry of Singaporean traditions through music, dance, and cuisine.

Beyond these initiatives, I am dedicated to fostering a culture of open communication, inclusivity, & support within our society. I will enforce regular feedback mechanisms to solicit input from members, ensuring that their voices are heard & their concerns addressed.
