Hi everyone! I am Zoe and I’m running to be your next Treasurer of Singsoc!

To me, Singsoc has been more than just a society; it is my source of warmth and gives me a feeling of home. Fuelled by this sense of community, I am eager to contribute more to the society and take on a larger role as a committee member.

So, why treasurer?

Having good financial management is key to running the society – funding is a fundamental of every event. Beyond money management, the treasurer also serves as the backbone of the society, uniting the various departments of the committee.

Why Zoe?

I have a strong sense of responsibility and will ensure every decision made is well-grounded. My keen eye for long-term visibility would be helpful towards advanced budget allocation and forward planning for events, ensuring the overall financial well-being and function of our society. Furthermore, my proficiency in handling administrative work means you can depend on me to access UCL’s systems.

But beyond my primary role of being a treasurer, I remain dedicated to maintaining active communication within the society and beyond. I aim to continue strengthening relationships with our existing partners like SGN. And of course, being a data scientist means I’ll add a touch of automation to our systems to smoothen the existing processes.

With me as your treasurer, it will not just be about numbers – it’ll be well-choreographed with dollars and sense. Vote Zoe to be your Treasurer! Thank you :)

Isaiah Ma

SingSoc has always been my cornerstone of comfort in making life in London from unbearable to bearable 🙃. From the orientation where I felt lost, to the chaos of fresher’s week where everyday was “So what’s your major?”. It was the community which made me feel that home is not so far away after all. This euphoric feeling of warmth motivated me to contribute back to the society which provided it all. I hope that by undertaking a leadership position, I can be part of the community that fosters enriching & unforgettable memories.

I chose to run for treasurer because I felt my personality synergized with the role’s responsibilities. At its core, SingSoc is fueled by financially responsible and sustainable funds management, allowing each event to come to fruition. I believe I possess the diligence & fore-front thinking required to ensure finances are accountable & events can proceed smoothly logistically. In addition, being meticulous, organized & being able to stare at excel spreadsheets are just some of the few abilities I’m confident of.

As Treasurer, I aim to be the reliable pillar of support that fellow committee members can easily approach. Be it financial or administrative, I aspire to create an environment where we can openly discuss budgeting whilst ultimately being stringent and decisive with the final proposal. I also hope to propose initiatives which streamline the administrative process with the student union such that event planning can be better facilitated.

I wish to stand for this role as SingSoc has been extremely valuable to me throughout my journey at UCL. I truly appreciate the security of having a safety net and a welcoming community to fall back on while far from home in the UK. SingSoc has given me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and take risks that I otherwise would not have. I wish to be able to help provide this for the next generations of Singaporeans going abroad to London.

As part of the junior committee, I found it extremely meaningful to help out at events like the CNY dinner, the MHA careers event, and the recent Karaoke event at Bloomsbury Lanes. I believe I have gained the experience needed to contribute greatly as treasurer. I have had relevant experiences as the treasurer of a non-profit startup in my JC, as a storeman (who totally didn't slack off) in NS, and also as a business student.

Please give me your support!
