Avneet Purewal

Hi, I’m Avneet Kaur Purewal and I am a first-year student studying Economics. I am excited to apply for the role of social secretary since I would like to take the opportunity to contribute to the existing culture of this society which promotes inclusivity, seva and community engagement.

This year, the community was a supportive environment throughout my transition to university. I have personally found the Sikh society to be a comforting community and I am grateful to all the people I have met while being a member this year. I would like the opportunity to help other students joining the society and ensure all members feel welcomed.

As the Social Secretary I would continue to organise meetings and events to encourage society members to come together, and I would hope their experience is as positive as mine has been. I would aim to keep the Sikh community connected, both internally and externally, with various UCL societies and other London university Sikh societies.

I believe I have the relevant skills to fulfil the role requirements, with organisational, logistical, and effective communication skills ensuring I am prepared to plan and co-ordinate events. I am ready to bring my skills, passion and dedication to the role and I look forward to the chance to become the Social Secretary to make a meaningful impact in this society.

Jaskaran Singh

Hi everyone,

My name is Jaskaran, and I am nominating myself for the position of Social Secretary for the Sikh Society. By taking on this role, I want to ensure that the society runs events that are welcoming, insightful, and memorable. As a first-year representative, I have gained knowledge to help me in this role. I have confidence in ensuring that our events run smoothly and provide a wonderful experience for all who attend.

I want to continue supporting the Sikh Society as much as possible and ensure we can continue sharing our beautiful religion with the university. By being a part of the Sikh Society, I want to educate as many people as possible about all the amazing teachings of Sikhism and continue to learn about them myself.

Thank you for considering my nomination.
