Shakespeare Company: Treasurer

Hello! My name’s Vanessa :) When I'm not in a lecture trying to understand some philosopher’s theories I’ve been getting involved with shakesoc, whether it be watching shows, getting to know wonderful people or working hard on a production—I namely had lots of fun assistant directing Measure for Measure. As a drama kid dipping their toes into Shakespeare, I'm glad there's a space that allows newcomers to try these things out.

I'd love to continue shakesoc’s momentum of developing this relatively new society. My experience acting, directing and producing shows not only here, but also for neighbouring societies like dramasoc and mtsoc means that I’ve seen the magic of a show coming together from several angles. Hence, I'm familiar with how a UCL production gets made—and if there’s anything that’s true, it’s that shows often run on tight timelines, and having a reliable treasurer is integral to giving every event the love and respect it deserves. This is a role I can fulfil; my current position as the Drama Society’s diversity and inclusion officer shows this. My work executive producing two festivals (RECLAMATION and PRIDE) shows I can work in a fast paced environment, manage money, and dedicate myself to a project. If I'm elected, I hope to support the society through helping with budgeting related activities in a timely and friendly manner, so you can spend your time focused on enjoying the production process instead.
