Julia Alonso-Gautrais

Hi! My name is Julia, I’m Franco-Brazilian and I’m studying History, Politics and Economics.

I joined RAX in September, and it’s already been such an amazing journey! I've had so much fun representing UCL in competitive events, I've made so many memories, and I've met lovely people!

For this reason, my primary motivation for running for committee is to support the incredible community that RAX is! I’ve admired this years’ committee members for how approachable, friendly, and supportive they were at social runs, socials, races, bucs...and I really hope to be able to do the same for others :)

I also want to be part of the committee because I’m really passionate about running. I started running short distance when I was in year 8, and then gradually ended up running middle distance. I have now accumulated a some training and races experiences and I hope to contribute to the committee by sharing this knowledge.

I am standing as a competition and tour officer more specifically because the BUCS 2024 was such a memorable and fun experience! I really want to help organise this event next year, to make it as fun!

Gautam Chauhan

Hi everyone, my name's Gautam and I'm running to be your next Competitions and Tours Officer!

I've been a member of RAX for the last year and a half, and the supportive and welcoming atmosphere of the club has made it one of the highlights of my university experience so far. From Wednesday social runs to muddy cross country races, I've really enjoyed getting involved with everything the club has to offer, and would be thrilled to give others that experience as a member of the committee next year.

I think competitions and trips are really fun and a great way to get to know other members of the club, which is why I'm running for this position. Some of the things that I would do in this role include:

  • Working with the athletics and cross country captains to improve participation at events like LUCA and BUCS, especially from beginners who may not have had much experience with competitions before.
  • Collaborating with other societies to organise multi-sport competitions.
  • Helping to organise RAX trips such as BUCS Cross Country and make them as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
  • Organising a residential to a location in the UK or abroad after the summer exam period.

If you think I would make a good competitions and tours officer, help me to cross the finish line by giving me a vote!

Antonio J Escobar

Hi Team!

I hope by now I am a familiar face to you, but if I'm not, I'm AJ and I served as X-Country Captain of the club this past year. I am proud to say that we accomplished everything we set out at the beginning of the year; diversifying our SLR routes, a record-breaking BUCS trip and most importantly, creating a welcoming and encouraging environment for anyone who wants to give running a go, which will always remain a value of this club.

Having had a great season, I am ready to tackle a new challenge and apply my skills to the Competitions and Tours Officer role. If you have seen me working this year, you know I like to be very organised with my planning. Being a new role, there is still so much to bring to the table! So here are some of my plans if you decide to keep trusting on me:

  • A better schedule of ALL competitions throughout the year from an early stage. (Hopefully you've seen my efforts in the WhatsApp group chat!)
  • Collaborating with SOAS to co-organise a running camp in Morocco / Jordan.
  • Commitment to bringing a minimum of one road-running race per term. (London Winter Run, The Big Half, ASICS 10k, ...)
  • Further open up Duathlon and Triathlon competitions to members of RAX with dedicated training sessions.
  • Take charge of all logistics for our big events of the year (BUCS XC, Indoors and Outdoors).
  • And of course, remain an active figure by leading training sessions and supporting you all to enjoy our beautiful sport!

Thank you for trusting in me,
AJ

Nicholas Cassell

Having held this committee position since November I am keen to continue the role next year. After Bucs Indoors and XC I am looking forward to organising the participation in the upcoming BUCS triathlon championships. And planning a warm weather training tour as mentioned in the RAX constitution.
