Sam Owen

I am standing for the position of Athletics Captain because I am passionate about athletics and have a strong commitment to help the sport thrive at UCL. With a year of experience in the running club, I have gained valuable insights into the needs and aspirations of our fellow runners, and as Athletics Captain, I would be able to inspire and motivate our members to achieve their personal bests both on and off the track. I believe that by leading with enthusiasm and good spirit, I can contribute to the continued success and growth of our running club at UCL.

Ochuko Edward

Throughout the academic year, I've had the opportunity to interact with many athletes at training and competitions, and I have better understood the challenges UCL athletes face. I also train and compete in several different events which puts me in a unique position that lets me widely appreciate the experiences and needs of people participating in athletics. Because of this, I am well-equipped to help improve the experience of track and field athletes at UCL. As athletics is, for the most part, an individual event, it can be challenging for an athlete to feel part of a team. Although there have been some improvements this year, we still have a long way to go to be a unified team. As a well-known figure among track and field athletes, I am in a great place to help unify the team. Lastly, I already have a good working relationship with Highgate coaches so I can use that to help develop athletics even further.

Gus Carter

After regularly attending training at Highgate harriers on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, I can say that there is much to improve in terms of the unification and scope of athletics in RAX. Being a passionate athlete with 7 years of experience in athletics, there is a lot for me to offer to the club. From my time in multi-events and athletics captain at sixth form, I have a breadth of experience in not just track events, but also jumps and throws, making me qualified to lead and support newer athletes. I also have my fair share of experience in finals at high level competitions such as National Championships and English Schools, giving me the ability to help those looking to compete at a higher level.
