It gives me great pleasure to announce my candidacy for treasurer of the UCL Real Estate Society. I have consistently shown an unwavering dedication to the society's goals and missions during my time there by participating in a range of activities and events that deepen our knowledge of the real estate sector.

My strong interest in financial management and strategic planning, which I have developed via both academic endeavors and real-world experiences, is the basis of my decision to seek the treasurer position. I gained invaluable knowledge about financial analysis and property management during my internship at Ultra Estates in London, which also gave me a solid grasp of financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting in the real estate industry.

In addition, my involvement in the Real Estate Society's seminars, guest lectures, and networking events has expanded my knowledge of the opportunities and complexities that are specific to the sector. Interacting with peers and industry professionals has broadened my horizons and improved my capacity to make a significant contribution to the goals of society.

Apart from my personal encounters, my participation in the NEOM project in Saudi Arabia has emphasized the significance of excellence and innovation in real estate on a worldwide level. Working on the NEOM project gave me firsthand experience in accurately and superbly executing large-scale real estate projects, as well as exposure to cutting-edge sustainable practices and transformative initiatives.

Dear Members,

I am excited to run for the position of Treasurer at Real Estate Society 2024-2025! My decision to run for this role stems from my deep commitment to the Real Estate Society and my desire to contribute to its continued growth and impact within our community.

Being selected into the Future of Developer Club as one of the Real Estate Society partners, the inspiration I felt in the Real Estate Society made me realise how I wanted to help this society grow further. From coordinating guest speakers for the UCL Careers Fair to organising speed networking events, panel discussions and Entrepreneurship 101 sessions, I have developed sufficient experiences and skills in shaping diverse career opportunities for our members, particularly those, like myself, hailing from real estate, urban planning and design backgrounds.

My leadership journey and active involvement in campus activities have equipped me with a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of organizational dynamics. Some highlights of my experiences include:

  • Organizing the annual careers conference, Share the Vision, at the HSBC headquarters and establishing lasting relationships with speakers and recruiters in Real Estate & Infrastructure Private Equity, Asset Management, and Hedge Fund sectors
  • Engaging in first-year mentorship programmes within the Investment Society, Women in Finance Society, and ESG Society, while working in both the Women in Finance student committee and Guild student committee with potential cooperation in the next academic
Krishan Parmar

I have enjoyed attending the Real Estate society events this year and would love to serve the society's community by being its Treasurer. As Treasurer, I feel that I would be a responsible and committed member of the team, and would offer insights into how to streamline the society's core processes.

Given my strong financial and quantitative background as a first year economics student, I feel that I would be the right fit for this role. Being Treasurer would enable me to merge my passion for numbers with an inner passion for real estate.

My strong communication skills and attention detail would complement this role, and I would be honoured to have the opportunity to elevate the Real Estate society's impact even further!
