With Quant becoming such an eventful field today, I hope to play a pivotal role in growing the quant community at UCL. The society currently has many amazing learning opportunities for members, but here are some ideas I intend on implementing as head of events:

     1. Interactive Speaker Events - Nothing compares to first hand experience, and I hope to invite guest speakers to give insights into their careers and tips on how to break into the field. I hope to make these events more interactive as well, for example by involving attendees and speakers in real-life scenarios and simulations to examine how someone would have to handle such a situation in industry.

     2. Inclusive Events - I believe that societies should be aware of members who are beginners in a field, and keep them involved regardless of experience. As head of events, I will work to choose and plan events to foster a culture of inclusion within the UCL Quant community to help increase our outreach while furthering members’ understanding of the field. With London being so involved in Quant, there is no shortage of possible events - Bar stock exchange social anyone?

This year, as President of Hindu Society I was able to gain firsthand experience on how to run a society, plan budgets and organise events while abiding by the rules and regulations of the Students’ Union. I believe I have the experience to plan successful, impactful events for Quant Society and hope to gain your vote to do so!

Berkay Karan

Hello everyone, my name is Berkay, and I will be a second-year Mathematics student next year. I am Turkish and lived most of my life in Belgium and Switzerland.

What do I hope to achieve if I am elected?

- I will create attractive events to help bring more people into the society.

- My goal will be to have a mix of fun events and intellectual events where we help each other with applications, projects, etc. Mens sana in corpore sano ;)

- I also want to create a weekly session for Internships and Assignments, where we all help each other in order to make the group succeed.

- I will proactively listen to the members of Quant Society to adjust the events according to what the members desire.

Why should you vote for me?

- My international experience has given me the fundamental skills to create welcoming events. Those skills are mainly my understanding of different cultures through living in four other countries and my ability to speak four languages fluently.

- I also cultivate a deep passion for Mathematics and Quantitative Finance, starting from primary literature such as One up Wall Street by Peter Lynch, to actively pursuing a Quantitative Finance project in my own time.

- This passion and my ability to adapt well to given circumstances make me a great candidate for this role.
