As a nominee for the presidency of UCL Polish Society, I believe that I bring a unique perspective, influenced by my mixed cultural background. The diversity that surrounds having a Polish mother, Algerian father, and being born and raised in the United Kingdom, has enriched my outlook and created a foundation for the way I am to foster inclusivity within our community. As the current Marketing and Social Media Officer, I have been able to delve into the society's internal operations and gain valuable experience in networking and engaging an audience. I ultimately envision UCL Polish Society as a vibrant cohort, embracing all the classical aspects of Polish culture, whilst simultaneously advocating for diversity. Whether we choose to organise traditional events, cultural exchanges, or simply having meaningful conversations at bar socials, I am dedicated to creating a space where every voice is heard and valued in the midst of enjoyable experiences. Therefore, I cannot achieve this vision alone, and it is with your ideas and support that we can embark on this journey of growth, inclusivity, and celebration. Together we will be able to pave the way for a more dynamic and united Polish Society at UCL - a community where everyone is able to feel at home and where our individual differences can be celebrated as strengths. As a final point, I would like to thank you for considering me for this important role. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead to curate our vision.

Katie Julianna Taylor

Cześć!

My name is Katie Taylor and I would like to run for President of Polish Society. As a member I have immensely enjoyed all that PolSoc has had to offer. From pączki on Tłusty Czwartek to riveting presentations given by accomplished historians like Norman Davies, PolSoc at UCL has truly provided an expansive range of events and opportunities. However, I am most grateful for the sense of community PolSoc has given me. As a Polish-Brit myself I have found Polish Society a great place to make friends from all around the world who share a common interest in all things Polish.

As president of Polish society I would like to continue this tradition of community and further evolve it by encouraging more diverse membership. I would like to do this by hosting more events which discuss Polish history, media, culture and current political affairs in Poland. Similarly, as a Polish person living outside of Poland, the preservation of the Polish language is a matter very close to my heart. As president I would like to host Polish language work shops that teach more nuanced language topics to cater to varying abilities and specific contexts e.g. corporate language.

PolSoc UCL is an extremely wide ranging society which is linked to UCL leaders and as project manager I would like to build upon its legacy and host targeted networking events.

Finally, if you choose me as your President of Polish Society I can assure an ample supply of kabanosy and excuses to go to Mamuśka !!! Dziękuje!!!!
