Seiya Tanase

Hi! You may have seen me at some of the events this year, my name is Seiya and I am mostly out and about doing black and white street photography if I'm not inundated with essays to write (English Lit...). I am also the UK leader of a street photography project started in Tokyo.

I am standing for the position of Vice President as I would like to use my passion for photography to support the President and grow this society by increasing and diversifying our activities and our presence on campus. Aside from the regular lighting/darkroom workshops, this would mean more frequent photo walks and short trips (= photography + socialising!!), having (and going to) galleries, and connecting with the wider photography community, such as by organising events with other London universities. Exhibitions and zines are particularly exciting, as seeing your own work in print, and framed, is a totally different and much more exhilarating experience than seeing it digitally (A2 prints are amazing). Exhibitions are also great because both beginners and veterans can take part and share their work.

Rough summary: photography is incredibly exciting, and whether you just started out or have been making photos for years, or whether you're a street photographer or an astronomy photographer, I will help make this a society which you can actively participate in and will love. Thanks for reading and please consider voting for me!

Jiayun Liu

Hi! I am Jiayun Liu, running for the Vice President.

My journey with photography began in high school, and since then, my fascination with experimenting with various photography equipment during my spare time has only grown. Over the last two years, I've had the pleasure of using my SLR camera, Polaroid, and CCD to capture moments for numerous individuals. There's nothing more rewarding to me than the joy and satisfaction on people's faces when they see the photos I've taken. This profound love for photography and the happiness it brings to others is what motivates me to contribute more significantly to our community through this role.

Photography, for me, is not just about taking pictures; it's about storytelling, capturing emotions, and creating a visual legacy that reflects the dynamism and diversity of our community. My aim as Vice President is to elevate our collective experience by introducing innovative photography projects, workshops, and collaborations that not only enhance our skills but also deepen our connection to each other and to the broader narrative we're all a part of.

I believe I would be the perfect fit for this position. Please vote for me! :)

Gaby Ndonkeu-Yidjeu

I have greatly enjoyed being a member of Photography Society and the learning opportunities it has given me. And so I would like in this position to not only be a kind smile and open ear to members of the society but also help facilitate in providing similar opportunities to members of the society over the next year through many different ways, whether it is letting people know of external opportunities, workshops or being able to answer questions or directing to somewhere that may provide answers.
