Mala Nithiyananthan

RUMS netball has been my Uni family for the last 4 years. I’ve met some of the most kind hearted, like minded, and downright funniest people which is why it would be an absolute honour to be the president for the club. This role is generally described as the club’s biggest hype woman, in other words an extension of my whole personality the last few years.

I have held the role of first team captain this year, and training secretary last year, both roles in which I’ve shown and developed my leadership skills and my understanding of what it requires to be able to manage a team. To not only delegate roles and make sure tasks are carried out, but to boost morale and maintain strong connections in times of hardship. These roles have also highlighted my organisational skills. My commitment to this club has been evident through the one too many sports nights, recs matches, and attendance at training.

I hope to be your RUMS netball president 2024/25! :)

p.s LETS GOOOOOO

Saffron Rajappan

I have had an amazing time being involved in RUMS Netball during all my 4 years at UCL. Being appointed 2s VC, fixtures secretary, secretary, and treasurer, means that I have a strong understanding of the workings of the club. I have helped organise major events (tour, freshers, varsity, Lumsden…), and have extensive experience dealing with the day-to-day/admin of the club/SU (who I now have a strong link with). I am also a social and team member - I even order cider blacks outside of sports nights!

I have been fortunate enough to work alongside our current president, Rachel, this year, filling in for her when needed, and she has passed on an invaluable amount of knowledge that I could bring to the role. I would similarly support the upcoming treasurer and work closely with them, as I learnt from Rachel how key it was to have the support from a president who understands the system. My placement this year was at Barnet so it was necessary for me to carry out many of my duties as treasurer online. However, my placement will be at UCLH next year, so I will be closer to campus and easily available to help in person with all aspects of the club.

I’d be grateful for the opportunity to be president of RUMS Netball, and hope that the testaments of other club members relating to my approachability, organisational skills, and love for the club, will make me a good candidate for the role. Thank you for reading and good luck to all the other candidates for all the RUMS roles :)
