Music Society (RUMS): President

Hi everyone! My name is Zi Tong, a 2nd year medical student, and I am running to be your RUMS Music president! I believe I have the necessary qualities and experience to lead RUMS Music to greater heights of success. 

RUMS Music has played a huge role in my university life and being part of the heartstrings ensemble, I have made many great memories. I have several experiences in leadership ranging from being House Captain, leading orchestra for 3 years to running ‘anime’ society in school. Currently, I am the president of ABACUS Society; delegating tasks to my committee members and liaising with Students’ Union has given me the leadership and teamwork skills required for this position. I am also the principal violinist in the UCL String Orchestra, therefore I have experience in leading a music ensemble at UCL. I am also on the WinS committee and have helped run the annual WinS conference, showcasing my organisation skills, teamwork and management abilities. Being the leader in orchestral concerts and being on societal committees has greatly enhanced my time management, perseverance and problem-solving skills, which are essential attributes to handle being President of RUMS Music effectively.

All in all, I love meeting new people and have met my closest friends through RUMS Music. I will try my hardest to work with the rest of the committee to bring you guys the best events and continue to uphold the reputation RUMS Music holds. I look forward to seeing you guys soon!

Hi! I'm Daivi and I am running to be your RUMS Music President!

RUMS Music has been my family for 4 years. This community has supported me with tutorials, socials, advice, and more importantly, friendship and kindness. I have loved being on committee for the last 3 years (Publicity Officer, Education Officer and Accarhythmia co-lead) and now I want to lead the committee and continue to provide a musical haven from medicine so we can all have fun and unwind!

Last year, I arranged music for all our ensembles so that we could perform the classic, ‘Feeling Good’. Next year, I want to do this again to unite the whole society because it really “feels good” performing all together (bit corny – sorry!).

As Education Officer, I organised Mock CPSAs, advice events like “The iBSc: What you need to know”, tutorials and updated and designed the RUMS Music Survival Guide. I want to continue supporting our community with our education events – pre-clin and clin.

Holding fun socials is essential! And after a busy year, it only seems right to celebrate our achievements with a RUMS Music End of Year Party! Inviting our RUMS Music Alumni to events like this, as well as keeping in touch with them, is definitely a priority for me.

I’m well organised, dependable and so passionate about RUMS Music. I want to continue the amazing work done so far, take on more responsibility and more importantly, have a fun year with regular events so that all our members can reap the benefits of RUMS Music!
