Jannelle Ofrin

Hey guys! My name is Jannelle and I’m currently a 2nd-year Biomedical engineering student. I joined Muay thai society in October as a way to unwind and get back into sports - and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Joining this society has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people, and make incredible memories.

I’d like to give back to this society by applying for the Welfare officer position. I want members of the society to experience the same community I’m grateful for being a part of (s/o to the current committee members <3). As a fellow newcomer to the sport, I’d help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for other beginners to feel comfortable and motivated to learn.

I’m currently volunteering at the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) as a Support volunteer, and have also had extensive experience volunteering with local Food banks both in the UK and the Philippines. I believe that my involvement has contributed to my caring attributes which will help me create a safe space for new members. If elected, I hope to extend out my experiences by connecting us with charitable organisations and volunteering opportunities.

Lowkey chose the wrong photo for this position but I don’t actually look this scary loool pls vote for me thank u :D

Ashley Ang

The UCLMT community has had my back throughout the past 2 years at UCL and I would like to give back by running for welfare secretary. My love for the sport owes itself to this amazing community and as welfare secretary, I aim to foster a welcoming environment in a sport that is often deemed intimidating.

Although I haven't had many fights, I am more than happy to share my experience in the sport, clarify any doubts you may have, or simply geek out on Muay Thai for as long as you want to.

George Harwood

Hi I’m George 😃, I am first year Physics student and have been part of UCLMT since September. Having done Muay Thai throughout my childhood, but stopping around covid, I’ve been able to start training in a sport I love again thanks to this years committee and now I’d like to give back to the society myself as the welfare officer.

I hope that as welfare officer I would be able to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable in the society. I would also make sure there is effective communication so that if anyone feels uncomfortable or has a problem with training, they could come to me and I would try my best to find a solution. On top of this I’d like to continue with the welfare drop-in sessions so that I can help everyone with anything they need.

I hope I can help provide the best experience for everyone society and if I am elected I will try my best to make sure your welfare is looked after.

Thank you🙃
