Bella Gilbert

Hey everyone!

My name is Bella, and I've been with UCL Muay Thai for the last three years. Starting at around 8 years old, I won three junior titles, but lost my spark for the sport until finding it again in my first year. So far, I've been involved every year, serving first as Public Relations Secretary, then President in my second year, and now advising the current committee while studying abroad.

When I was President, we hit record membership and boosted competitive engagement by 25%. These successes among others earned me a Sports Colour Award. My past experiences means I am familiar with the Students' Union's processes so I would be able to streamline these, completing them quicker and with fewer errors. As a result, we would be able to focus on developing the club rather than wading through paperwork.

If elected, I aim to:

  • Continue our competitive momentum by leveraging my own past competitive experience and connection with Bloodline Gym in order to develop the 'Fighter Sponsorship' scheme and introducing more training sessions.
  • Expand our presence in UCL schemes to help ensure the club is as welcoming to everyone as they were to me in my first year.
  • Deepen our appreciation for Muay Thai's culture by incorporating its more traditional and cultural aspects, such as its history and the tradition of the 'wai kru ram muay'.

In short, I want to continue giving back to the club and share my passion for the sport and its rich culture with UCL Muay Thai's members :)
