Lorenzo Aragon

hey guyss im back for round 2 :)

in case you dont know me, im lorenzo and was this year’s external relations sec. i had joined the society (and committee) this school year having no prior martial arts background and very quickly found myself getting very invested in the sport and culture of muay thai and would love to stay involved.

i want to make it clear that this role is pretty admin heavy and requires lots of emailing–im VERY used to emailing (this is copy and pasted from last year):

“having worked as both the coordinator of service clubs and as the president of the student council during my time in secondary education, i have had to organize school-wide events that required the coordination of multiple groups and ‘stakeholders’ and as such feel i have the necessary experience of serving as a leader and liaison for this position.”

as external relations sec, ive had to maintain contact with our merch suppliers (su has made this process very lengthy) and found a sponsor for our this girl can event. for next year id like to be more ambitious and explore the possibilities of sponsors for more events (ufn, varsity, etc.) and securing discounts for muay thai gear.

anyway, i really do want to see this society continue to succeed and it would be my pride to contribute to this community!

Megan Fisher

Hi everyone! I’m Megan, a 3rd Year Economics student.

Taking up Muay Thai has been the highlight of my past year at university, and I'd love the opportunity to give back as your External Relations Secretary - by securing top sponsorships and collaborations to take us even further next year!

I aim to cushion up the club’s finances with new sponsors - meaning we can spend more on equipment, trips, socials and more killer events. Likewise, having attended every Fight Night and shaken hands with our Muay Thai friends from other unis, I will ensure that we can continue to collaborate on events and socials, developing new ways to crossover, to strengthen our close (frenemies?) relationship into 2024/25.

You can be confident that I will achieve these goals for a number of reasons.

Firstly, I am an econ student with a Sales and Trading internship under my belt. So if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s talking people into a great deal! (And keeping them on after.) Sponsors will demand a lot in the current business climate, but it's no match for my perseverance and the incredible performance of our fighters.

Secondly, I was the client relations exec for the Economics & Finance society last year and helped secure the three main sponsors, so I know the tips and tricks. This year, for Muay Thai, I have more experience and a far more interesting pitch, and will research extensively year-long to ensure that we bag and maintain ideal partnerships.

Thank you for your consideration! <3
