Having held committee positions throughout my life, I possess the organisational skills and experience required to work with others and ensure the smooth running of events: I am good with data and technology, keep three calendars, and am incredibly fussy about perfection. Though I haven't been with the society long, I've enjoyed the events and have a few ideas:

Firstly, I think it would be good to compile a list of all available gig opportunities in London into a google sheet and broadcast the link over social media and in the Whatsapp groups, updating regularly, for convenience.

Secondly, I hope to seek more collaboration opportunities with London societies, charities, and especially music schools so we gain access to instruments, teaching, and larger music rooms.

Thirdly, I hope to organise themed jams to prevent overcrowding, and for people to submit song requests/vote for them online before the jam.

Finally, I wish to increase inclusivity by organising:

a) beginner-friendly music events and classes, which can be led by teachers or members of the live music society and

b) workshops that span outside instruments, like singing or songwriting

Overall, I hope to promote existing talents throughout London and organise events for students who may may be nervous about performing for the first time. I believe my experience, organisational skills, anxiety make me an ideal candidate for the role, and hope that you like my ideas and will vote for me :)

The Live Music Society to me is all about collaboration with other members/musicians. As the events manager, I would maximize the events and opportunities for the society members to perform and to be in a band. To help new members form bands and increase collaboration between musicians, build-a-band socials and live jams would be held once a month. Having gigs every month would allow more bands to have an even distribution of opportunity in playing live. I would also ensure the sign up sheets for gigs would be sent out at least two weeks in advance, with notice of confirmation being sent out at least one week in advance so that bands have enough time to prepare for their chosen setlist.

I have experience in leadership and hosting events. I was the founder and head of the Biodiversity Council, in which I held a online 'Making a Difference week' during the COVID pandemic, in which in total of about 200 students participated in several events. I have also held a 'City Nature Challenge' event where 200 students joined to document species around our high school using the iNaturalist app. Furthermore, I have hosted Annual Tree Planting Day in my highschool where around 50 students joined and participated in planting trees in the countryside of Hong Kong.

With my experience in planning and holding events, combined with my passion for music and my desire to make a difference, I would be the perfect candidate for the events officer for the live music society.
