Jamie Wu

こんにちは!Hi, I'm Jamie!

I am studying Biochemistry as a first-year undergrad. Personally, I'm obsessed with Japan in a lot of aspects, like anime, music, food, culture and sightseeing. (I can give more examples if you want) What made me join Japan Society as soon as I came to UCL was simply the tempting opportunity to make Japanese friends and to explore more about Japan.

I am determined to participate in the committee because I am eager to let more people know about how good Japan Society is. 🤩

My beliefs about Secretary and Welfare Officer

  • This position connects the committee to our members & other societies.
  • It is also crucial for running an efficient committee.
  • The key is to exclusively prioritise the interests of our members.

My promises

  • Pop-up events in weekday afternoons with free hot chocolate & coffee.
  • You will continue to enjoy all the privileges as a Japan Society member, including free events & cheap tickets.
  • You will be well informed about all of our future events.
  • You will benefit from the diverse & inclusive environment of Japan Society, more chances to make friends.
  • I will extend the range of our partners, working towards more discounts & collaborations.

Being involved in most of the previous events as a sub-committee member has deepened my understanding specifically in how our society is run. Therefore, I am sure that what I offer you will be no less than what the previous committees did!

Somersby Holmes

I would like to be nominated for Welfare Officer and Secretary of Japan Society as I have a deep appreciation for Japanese culture and a strong desire to contribute my skills and passion to the inclusive and warm community adopted by the Japan Society.

My aspiration to serve as Welfare Officer stems from a heartfelt desire to contribute to the mental and emotional well-being of our members. Drawing on my empathetic nature and commitment to fostering a supportive community, I am excited about the prospect of implementing initiatives that prioritise the health and happiness of our members.

My commitment to inclusivity aligns seamlessly with the Japan Society's values. I am eager to create an environment where every member feels valued and supported, addressing individual concerns with care and empathy.

What captivates me about the Japan society is its mission to create a community that embraces both Japanese students and individuals interested in Japan, developing a sense of connection and equality.

Possessing strong organisational skills and attention to detail, I excel in managing timelines, coordinating meetings, and preparing comprehensive agendas. I am confident in my ability to contribute to the seamless operation of the Japan Society.

I look forward to the opportunity to bring my dedication, skills, and passion to the position of Welfare Officer and Secretary, contributing to the strength and vibrancy of the Japan Society.
